My Guerlain Holiday 2012 Haul Part 4 - Meteorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder

The most anticipated items of the new Guerlain Holiday 2012 Collection for me were the Meteorites Perles and Meteorites Wulong Voyage Powder. I collect these two powders and am always very eager to purchase them.

This year's Wulong Voyage Powder is very similar to the permanent Mythic powder and the limited edition Imperial powder form 2009, only the colours are different. I prefer these powders to have more intricate designs, like 2010's Poudre D'Or or 2008's Radiant Butterfly Voyage Powder, but I'll take what I can get anyway.

Voyage Powders are basically Meteorites in pressed form, which means they're more travel friendly. These powders are the ultimate luxury items, the powders are gorgeous, soft, velvety, and they come in gorgeous compacts. This year's compact is black with mother of pearl rosette detailing. These compacts are very expensive, with the product costing £110, the powder refills are around £30 so the compact is basically the difference. They are, obviously, refillable, but you can't normally get the limited edition refill, only the permanent Mythic powder refill.

You get 7.5 g of powder, so gram per gram these compacts are way more expensive than the loose Meteorites Perles, but they make an excellent collector's item and these compacts are just so cool to pull out in the ladies room. Incidentally, if you watch Homeland, did you notice Carrie had one of these (the permanent compact) in one of the earlier episodes?

I apologise I haven't swatched this yet, I didn't want to mess up the powder until I get myself a back up (yes, I am that crazy). I managed to get this one on eBay for quite a bit less than £110, so hoping to be able to score another one, if not on eBay, then in the after Christmas sales.

As you know, I collect these beauties and in case you haven't see my collection, you can check it out here, although it needs updating as those pictures don't include Poudre D'Or (which you can see by clicking here) or Wulong.

PS. My computer monitor has broken, so I'm typing this on my laptop. Hopefully I'll be able to get a replacement monitor tomorrow, because I really hate editing pictures and typing on the laptop, but in the meantime, please bear with me.

I'm not 100% sure whether this is the entire collection, but it seems quite sizeable, so it probably is. I believe the collection will have an oriental theme.

  • Meteorites Perles du Dragon
  • 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette
  • Liu Calligraphy Palette for Eyes and Lips

I don't have any more info right now, but I will let you know as soon as I do.

Last Month I...

I've decided that instead of doing yet another boring post about the products I finished last month, I would do a bit of a different post this time. So I called it "Last Month I..." and I will share a few beauty related things that I did/bought/used/loved/hated, etc. over the past month.

So last month I...
  • finished 8 products (not bad) out of which the most expensive one was my beloved Guerlain Meteorites Radiant Butterfly Voyage Powder. I bought this in 2008 and in fact this was one of my first ever Guerlain purchases. It was the gorgeous Midnight Butterfly collection of holiday 2008 that sucked me in completely, I bought almost everything from it, including this beauty. It cost around £100 in shops (although I paid quite a bit less on eBay), so it's one of the most expensive make up items I own. So it was actually a bit sad to finish it, but you won't be surprised to hear that I have a back up. Plus the gorgeous compact is refillable, so I can just pop a regular Voyage Powder refill in it. Just how pretty is this?

Keep reading to find out what else I did last month!

FOTD: Guerlain Fall 2011 Collection

Here's the look I did with my new Guerlain fall 2011 products, in fact I also wore Guerlain foundation, mascara, blush and setting powder/complexion highlighter but that's mostly just because I love Guerlain products. :) In most pictures I'm wearing Rouge G in 71 Girly, but I included a picture at the bottom wearing 25 Garconne as well. (I did take that one with a slightly different camera setting, hence the cooler colours, but it's the same look.) Hope you like it.

To create this look I used the following products:

Eyes:
Barbara Daly (Tesco) Eyeshadow Primer
Guerlain 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette 08 Les Perles light pink colour on inner half of lid
Guerlain 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette 08 Les Perles grey/taupe colour on outer half of lid
Guerlain 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette 08 Les Perles dark grey-purple in crease
Guerlain 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette 08 Les Perles white gold on browbone to highlight

Guerlain Fall 2011 Make Up Collection Preview

Guerlain is one of my favourite make up brands and I'm always happy to find out about upcoming collections, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I came across some promo photos and collection details over at Marina's website. Although I am usually most excited about Guerlain's holiday collections because of new Meteorites, Voyage Powders and Sublime Radiant Powders coming out, I can see a few interesting products in the fall collection as well.

Firstly, just how gorgeous does Natalia Vodianova look in this promo picture? To be honest, I have not seen a promo picture where she didn't look gorgeous, I really like her style and I think she really fits Guerlain's image, very classy and beautiful, just like Guerlain's products.

Here are the details of the collection:

Rouge G de Guerlain lipsticks
  • 25 Garconne (red from the promo)
  • 70 Gigolo (plum)
  • 71 Girly (pink)
Ecrin 4 Couleurs eye shadows (they will become a part of a permanent line)

  • 04 Les Bois de Rose
  • 05 Les Gris
  • 06 Les Fumes

  • 08 Les Perles
  • 09 Les Noirs
Last fall Guerlain released the 6 colour eyeshadow palettes which are a very similar, obviously with 2 more colours. I wonder if these new eyeshadow quads will replace the current permanent 4 colour eyeshadow palettes? We'll see.

Khol Me

  • 30 Khol Me Ebony (brown)
  • 40 Khol Me Jungle (green)

Guerlain Meteorites Poudre D'Or Voyage Powder

I've got it! Just arrived in the post today! And it's lovely! What am I talking about? The new Meteorites Poudre D'Or from Guerlain's holiday collection of course!

Guerlain releases a limited edition Voyage Powder every holiday and they seem to be getting more and more beautiful (although to this day my favourite is the Radiant Butterfly one that was released in 2008). This year the theme is bees, it runs through the whole collection. Both the lid and the actual powder feature bees. The lid of the compact is very similar to both the Meteorites Perles D'Or box and last year's Imperial Voyage Powder. It has the same flower pattern and bee as the Meteorites Perles D'Or but it also has the black Swarovski crystals from the Imperial Voyage Powder. The compact is very heavy and has a very luxurious feel to it, and it's refillable, although you may not be able to find the same powder, you can always pop in one of the permanent Mythic refills. It costs £107, so it is very expensive, and refills are around £30.

I apologise to those expecting swatches and a comparison review between Meteorites Perles D'Or and Poudre D'Or, but I cannot make myself swatch the powder and ruin the gorgeous bee detail. I collect these powders as well as use them (if you haven't yet, please feel free to check out my collection here) and since I have a few powders already on the go, I don't feel the need to start using this one as well. Hope you understand.

Guerlain Les Ors Holiday 2010 Collection

I've been talking so much about my Guerlain Meteorites and Voyage Powders collection, that I figured, I might as well show you the upcoming holiday collection. I love Guerlain's holiday collections, because they always include  new Meteorites and Voyage Powders. I also love the Sublime Radiant Powders that come out every Christmas. Those are the shimmery powders in old style perfum bottles. Lovely! :) I want everything!

And my collection is finally complete...

As some of you know, I am a huge fan of Guerlain Meteorites and collect them as well as use them (well some of them anyway). I got into Guerlain only a couple of years ago, so anything before then I missed out on. And of course as most brands, their seasonal collections are limited edition, so it takes a lot of time (and money) to track down old collections. Thankfully (with the help of eBay and MakeUpAlley) I have been able to find everything, in fact the last piece of my Meteorites Voyage Powder collection arrived to me yesterday. And here it is:
Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Powder Eclat De Rose
This powder was released in 2003, so it is now very rare, but I was lucky enough to find a brand new unused boxed one in perfect condition. It was also cheaper than the usual retail price (which is now over £100), so I'm really pleased. I've also taken the opportunity to take an up-to-date picture of all my Meteorites Voyage Powders as they are so pretty and I love looking at them. I do use some of them (have a few back-ups that I've picked up on eBay or in sales (usually half the price)), but they really are worth the money to just stare at. :) Also they smell divine. Of course there will be a new Voyage Powder coming out with the holiday collection (more on that later) which I'm really looking forward to as it has bee pattern and looks gorgeous! Anyway, here's some more pictures of my new Voyage Powder and the rest of my collection. Enjoy!

Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Powder Midnight Diamond and pictures of my collection

If you've been following my blog for a while you will know that I am a huge fan of Guerlain, and in particular Guerlain Meteorites. Every year for Christmas Guerlain releases a special limited edition pressed powder called the Voyage Powder that normally co-ordinates the Meteorites Pearls in colour. These powders are very expensive, they cost around £100 for 8 g. They are refillable and the refills come at around £30, and they are absolutely beautiful, both on the inside and the outside. They are the ultimate luxury make up items. I've got sucked into collecting them when the 2008 limited edition one came out as it was so pretty and now I own 10 of them (plus a couple of back ups that I managed to pick up half price and actually use quite a lot). There is still one missing, it's called Eclat de Rose and I think it's from 2003, so it won't be easy finding one in good condition now. The other one I'd been trying very hard to find is Midnight Diamond from 2004. Fortunately after searching eBay and MUA for it every day, I've managed to buy a brand new boxed one for my collection. Cost a lot, but yay! I finally got it.
Guerlain Voyage Powder Midnight Diamond
I thought I'd also show you my whole collection of Guerlain Voyage Powders (also included the Terracotta Bronzing Powders as they are the same mosaic design as some Voyage Powders) and while I was at it, the pressed powder version of the Meteorites pearls. A word of warning about these, if you are planning on buying these from eBay, be careful as I have seen fakes of these powders. They are set deep in their container and come with a puff. The real ones as you can see in my pictures, are raised and don't come with a puff.
