Guerlain Perles D'Or Meteorites and pictures of my Meteorites collection

As promised in my haul review here are the details on my favourite item of the Guerlain holiday collection: Perles D'Or Meteorites. I also thought I'd show you my entire Meteorites collection as it's been a while since I last did it (here) and my collection has grown from 17 (March 2010) to a whopping 22! I am also including comparison pictures for the old and new permanent Meteorites as I've had questions about how similar Mythic and Teint Rose are. So be sure to read all the way to the end!

First up is Perles D'Or, the new limited edition Meteorites from Guerlain's holiday collection:

See more pictures of this product and my entire collection of Meteorites after the jump!

The outer box is the usual black, but inside is the new style metallic (looking) container that also sports a lovely little bee, a theme that runs through the whole holiday collection. It looks very sophisticated and luxurious.

When you take the lid off, you find a lovely black puff covering the pearl inside. I don't recommend applying Meteorites with the puff (use a fluffy brush instead), but it is great for protecting the pearls as it fits really snuggly on top of them.

And here they are, 5 different colours and different sizes of pearls. The colours are iridescent white, champagne, gold, pink and dark violet. The effect is a slighly shimmery veil of pink powder, absolutely beautiful. Don't think disco ball though, the shimmer is very fine and subtle. You get 30 gramms for £35 which is slightly more than the permanent range (£33), but as always, you do get a lot of powder for your money.

Finally, here's my entire Meteorites collection to date and also a comparison picture for those interested in the difference between the old Mythic and the new Teint Rose shades. To my eyes the difference is that Teint Rose is less pink and more iridescent, but on the skin the difference isn't great at all.

  1. You must be very proud of your collection. I have only 3 of them but that's enough for me :I am lucky that I am not obsessed with these: but I still have other things to go crazy about :)

  2. WONDERFUL collection. I just wanted to ask do you think perles d'or is not too shimmery for everyday makeup, or not too pink? because i am wondering to buy it but my skin is prone to redness ;)

  3. Thank you! :) Perles D'Or is definitely more shimmery than the regular shades, but I think it would work fine as an everyday powder too. It's not too pink, Meteorites hardly give any colour to your face, the only one that does for me is Red Pastels, but that does have very dark pink pearls.

I want to know more about pastel white...maybe you can help me.I want to buy them(only 25$:) and i dont know if this is the right choice for my skin...i have a Jennifer Aniston kind of skin:))kind of tan skin ,not white, asian skin...So,do you think the pearly white pastel works for me? 5. Thank you! :) The white ones were all Asia exclusives, so I should think they're designed for lighter skintones, and they swatch pretty light on my hands. So I think you'd be better off with one of the warmer shades like Teint Beige or Teint Dore, or even Perles D'Or. Hope this helps.

  6. Another Guerlain-ophile here, thank you for the pics of your collection! I have the red holiday meteorites, mythis, pink fresh, and beige chic. Do you use these over blush, or instead of blush? I personally find that these over blush is too much, but it could be my application.

    Thanks again!

  7. Hi Carole,

I think other than Red Pastels, Meteorites don't give enough colour for me to be used as blush, I use them on top of my make up like a finishing powder. Thanks for commenting.

  8. Thank you for posting! Guerlain is one of my favorite houses. My love affair with them started in 1993, when my mom gave me the tortoise shell refillable compact-and matching lipstick case! and then, the matching perfume cloisoinner. So beautiful! But, it seems Guerlain has stopped making the refills for the lipstick and the perfume. It's deeply disappointing. Do you like any Guerlain fragrances? Chamade might be my favorite, but the original Samsara was a stunner, and so is Eau de Guerlain.

    Sincerely,

    Carole

  9. I only got into Guerlain 2.5 years ago, when they released Fleur de Feu eyeshadow palette, before then I didn't even know Guerlain existed. :) I've caught up quickly though. :D As for fragrances, I haven't tried many, but Insolence is my favourite (same scent as the Meteorites) and I also like Shalimar a lot.

  10. Hi! I stumbled across your site while Googling for the pearls! Your collection is absolutely fantastic- they look like dream bubbles! I've only recently wandered into the world of Guerlain, and I was wondering if you knew which colour set would suit a girl with fair Asian skin. I'm not exactly sure how to describe my skin tone as it does not really have a pink or yellow undertone, but something in between!

    Thanks!
    Anna.

  11. Try Teint Beige, it should work for your skin tone. Thanks for your interest! :)
