Want It! Guerlain Terra Ora Collection for Summer 2013

Guerlain always has me with their new collections and of course it's no different this time around. Thanks to Tavia I have details of the upcoming summer collection called Terra Ora.

The face of the collection once again is the ever beautiful Natalia Vodianova. The theme of the collection is gold, golden bronze. The star item is the limited edition Terra Ora bronzer that comes in a wooden compact like last year's Terra Azzurra powder. I'm also interested in the golden version of Guerlain's Meteorites Perles primer and the new BB cream. There's a new foundation as well as 2 new Shine Automatique lipsticks, new nail polish shades and a new lipgloss formula, Gloss D'Enfer that British Beauty Blogger has swatched for us already. Not part of this collection, but there are also 6 new shades of Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzing Powders that might tempt me too.

Want It! Mac In Extra Dimension Collection April 2013

I am so excited, this coming spring Mac is releasing yet another collection of their Extra Dimension eyeshadows, skinfinishes AND even blushes, in all new shades! (If you don't know what I'm talking about, I have reviewed previous collections here and here.) I have managed to find a picture of the skinfinishes and as I thought based on the descriptions the skinfinishes have split pans. Can't wait to find out more! I'm pretty sure I'm going to get everything though (maybe not the brushes).

My Guerlain Holiday 2012 Haul Part 4 - Meteorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder

The most anticipated items of the new Guerlain Holiday 2012 Collection for me were the Meteorites Perles and Meteorites Wulong Voyage Powder. I collect these two powders and am always very eager to purchase them.

This year's Wulong Voyage Powder is very similar to the permanent Mythic powder and the limited edition Imperial powder form 2009, only the colours are different. I prefer these powders to have more intricate designs, like 2010's Poudre D'Or or 2008's Radiant Butterfly Voyage Powder, but I'll take what I can get anyway.

Voyage Powders are basically Meteorites in pressed form, which means they're more travel friendly. These powders are the ultimate luxury items, the powders are gorgeous, soft, velvety, and they come in gorgeous compacts. This year's compact is black with mother of pearl rosette detailing. These compacts are very expensive, with the product costing £110, the powder refills are around £30 so the compact is basically the difference. They are, obviously, refillable, but you can't normally get the limited edition refill, only the permanent Mythic powder refill.

You get 7.5 g of powder, so gram per gram these compacts are way more expensive than the loose Meteorites Perles, but they make an excellent collector's item and these compacts are just so cool to pull out in the ladies room. Incidentally, if you watch Homeland, did you notice Carrie had one of these (the permanent compact) in one of the earlier episodes?

I apologise I haven't swatched this yet, I didn't want to mess up the powder until I get myself a back up (yes, I am that crazy). I managed to get this one on eBay for quite a bit less than £110, so hoping to be able to score another one, if not on eBay, then in the after Christmas sales.

My Mac By Request Haul With Swatches

I wasn't sure whether or not to write this post as Mac collections tend to sell out so quickly, there's hardly anything left 2-3 days after release day. This is especially true of online only collections. However, despite being released on Monday, Mac's newest collect By Request is still in stock as we speak, so I thought I might as well show you what I got and do some quick swatches in case you see something you like. I haven't worn any of them yet, so I won't be doing a proper review.

I bought Moth Brown and Guacamole eyeshadows, Moxie and Rocker lipsticks, Bait, Flash of Flesh and Cult of Cherry lipglasses. I didn't get Candy Yum Yum or Jete because I already owned them from earlier releases.

The eyeshadows cost £12, the lipsticks are £14 and the lipglasses are £13.50 each. The collection is exclusive to the Mac UK website. Have you picked up anything from the collection? Let me know in the comments!

Want It: Mac Glamour Daze Holiday Collection *Updated With Details!*

Another holiday collection I'm getting very excited about is Mac Glamour Daze collection. It will come out in two parts, one is the colour collection (in the picture below) and one is the sets: eyeshadow palettes, pigment sets, lipgloss sets, lip and eye bags, etc. Although I like the look of the sets, the products that get my heart beating a little faster are actually the Extra Dimension skinfinishes and eyeshadows from the colour collection.

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, Mac released a collection of Extra Dimension skinfinishes and eyeshadows earlier this year, you can check them out by clicking on the link. Mac Styleseeker Collection Sneak Peek - Eden Rouge Mattene Lipstick

Mac's one of many new collections, Styleseeker (due to be released in the UK in September) sees the return of their fantastic mattene lipsticks, so I thought I'd do a little review of one of the shades, Eden Rouge. Mine is actually from an older collection, but I believe the colour stayed the same, so hope this is helpful.

Mac mattene lipsticks are the best matte lipsticks I have ever tried, without a doubt. They are creamy, hydrating, very comfortable to wear and long lasting. Eden Rouge is a beautiful blue-based red with a slight sheen. I guess it's not completely matte, but I'm happy with that (I prefer non-matte lipsticks anyway). It is pretty opaque, so you pretty much only need one swipe. It feels very lightweight and doesn't have that slightly tacky texture of the Guerlain Rouge G L'Extrait lipsticks. Eden Rouge lasts on me for about 4 hours without eating, it comes off when I eat, but then they're not claiming to be long lasting.

Based on the online swatches I have seen of the other 4 shades in the collection, I don't think I'll pick any of them up, but I would definitely pick Eden Rouge up if I didn't have it already. You get 2.3 g for around £14.50 (I don't know the exact price just yet, it's $15 in the US), so they are slightly smaller than the regular lipsticks which are normally 3 g. Sadly all mattenes are limited edition and I am really considering getting another Eden Rouge - BUT I am going to enforce a big lipstick no-buy on myself when I reach 400 lipsticks and I only have 6 choices left, so not sure if I want to use one up for Eden Rouge. It is lovely, but maybe Mac will bring out some more pretty shades and then what will I do??? (Anyway, I will tell you more about my no-buy plans soon.)

I have been on a massive nail polish kick lately and have bought probably over 100 polishes. I've actually got into the habit of painting my nails every 2-3 days, so I am slowly getting through them, but probably will take another 6 months or so to use every new nail polish I've bought. Regardless, I have spotted a new Orly collection of 22 glitter top coats (plus a black nail polish) that I really love and will be buying a good few from.

They are $10 each on the Orly website and I have found a UK stockist who is going to sell them for £8.29 each (they're due to be launched mid-August), but I have also found a seller on eBay who has them for $6.25 plus shipping which makes one bottle cost £6.88 or less if you order more than one. One bottle contains a massive 18 ml, so it's great value for money.

Mac Electric Cool Eyeshadows Review and Swatches

Earlier this month Mac has launched a new collection of 12 cream eyeshadows called Electric Cool. I wasn't sure whether I wanted any of them because they were rumoured to be the reformulated Big Bounce eyeshadows, but thankfully they aren't. I ended up picking up 4 of them: Fashion Circuit, Brilliantly Lit, Superwatt, Electroplate.

These little pots of eyeshadows are actually very impressive. They feel very creamy, but they dry down pretty quickly and stay put without any creasing for 10+ hours (I always wear them over a primer). They are brilliant on days when I only have time for a quick wash of eyeshadow. I wouldn't compare them to the Armani Eyes To Kill, Chanel Illusion D'Ombre or L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows because their textures are different, but I guess they're in the same family. The Electric Cool eyeshadows I've bought have lots of shimmer and are quite frosty, except Brilliantly Lit which is more satiny.

Colourwise the available shades aren't very unique, I'm pretty sure all of them can be easily dupeable. I have found that Fashion Circuit for example is extremely close to Endless Sea L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow. The L'Oreal shadow is more frosty and at certain angles blueer, but on my eyes they are practically the same. Fashion Circuit is a gorgeous colour though and well worth picking up if you don't own anything similar yet. Brilliantly Lit is a bit more unique, you don't often get cream shadows in yellowy lime green shade.

Mac Electric Cool eyeshadows cost £14.50, and you get 2.1g product in a screw top black plastic container. They are limited edition, but most shades are still available, so if you're interested, take a look at your nearest Mac counter.

My Mac Heavenly Creature Haul Part 3 - Eyeshadows

Here's the final part of my Mac Heavenly Creature haul, this time it's the mineralize eyeshadows. You may know that I'm a massive fan of them and own almost every one Mac has released. (I didn't get two of the Chen Man ones that were exact dupes of some colours that were released earlier, but that's all.) I did a post on my Mac mineralize eyeshadow stash a while ago, but of course I have even more now. And of course I had to buy all 9 eyeshadows in the Heavenly Creature collection too.

I have to add that I have not used them all yet, but I have swatched them and they all seem very nice. Some are more shimmery than others (Invincible Light in particular is rather shimmery and frosty), but some are more satiny than anything. The colour payoff is very good, they are all really nicely pigmented. The ones I wore stayed on without creasing and fading for 10+ hours and there was only very mininmal fallout and that was only during application which is not a big deal for me at all.

The beauty of these mineralized eyeshadows is that you get 3 different colours swirled into one pot and they can create multidimensional colours, and also of course you can use them separately if you get large enough patches. Some of mine have really nice large patches, especially my Water with the big yellow patch in the middle and I've been able to use the separate colours in my Neo Nebula and Bright Moon as well. Of course the swirls also mean they are really pretty and nice to look at.

These Mac mineralize eyeshadows cost £16.50 and you get 2 g which is a bit smaller than some other mineralize eyeshadows (normally 2.2 g), but still rather large and they will last you absolutely forever.

My Mac Heavenly Creature Haul Part 2 - Blushes

Here's part 2 of my Mac Heavenly Creature haul, this time it's the mineralize blushes. Don't worry this won't be such a long post as the skinfinishes' was, there are only 4 I've purchased (although I am thinking about going back for a back up for Solar Ray).

The collection includes 4 mineralize blushes, all of them come with a swirl pattern and contain 2 different colours. Some are again more shimmery than others, some just give you a nice sheen. None of them are metallic looking on the skin and all of them are wonderfully pigmented. I have included a picture at the bottom of the post of me wearing Supernova, the bright pink one, and boy it is very bright and extremely easy to overdo. Also Stratus is a very dark shade and need a very light hand if you are on the paler side.

My current favourite is Solar Ray, which is the lightest colour, it's a lovely peachy-pink with gold swirls. The gold is quite shimmery, but the overall effect is rather lovely. Ring Of Saturn is a mix of peachy pink and terracotta and it's another beautiful shade. That one isn't shimmery at all, it just had a lovely sheen. All of the blushes are very smooth and very pigmented.

Mac Mineralize Blushes cost £19 and you get 3.2 g which is once again slightly less than the usual 3.5 g weight. Have you picked up any of these shades? Which one is your favourite?

My Mac Heavenly Creature Haul Part 1 - Skinfinishes

Finally, the long awaited Mac collection, Heavenly Creature has launched in the UK and I have a lot of goodies to show you. I was very excited about all the mineralize products and ended up purchasing all of them, so I will do this haul post in 3 parts. Apart from the mineralize make up, I also bought a couple of tubes of Volcanic Ash Exfoliator which I won't be reviewing just now, but will hopefully get around to doing so sometime soon. So many products, so little time...

First off, here are the Mineralize Skinfinishes (or MSFs) I bought. There were 4 of them launched in this collection: Light Year, Star Wonder, Center Of The Universe and Earthshine. As I wanted to make sure I ended up with the ones I really wanted, as well as ordering from Debenhams as soon as the collection launched, I also picked up one of each MSF with patterns I really wanted. So all in all I ended up with 8 of them. I was actually very lucky in that the MSFs Debenhams sent me are also very much the colours/swirls I was after, but slightly different from the ones I picked up.

In the picture above the MSFs I picked out myself are in the top row and the ones I ordered from Debenhams are in the bottom row. I particularly wanted a Star Wonder with lots of purple and an Earthshine with very little burgundy. Out of the four Light Year is definitely my favourite, even though I thought it would be Star Wonder. I find Light Year less metallic looking on the skin and it's such a gorgeous peachy pink colour. Eartshine is slightly too dark for me to use as a blush (it looks dirty on my cheeks), but I will find a way of using it for sure. I have not worn Center Of The Universe yet, but it's a nice orange/coral blush and will no doubt work well for my skintone.

The MSFs are all very smooth, not gritty or glittery at all. Yes, there's some shimmer, some finer than other, and some of them, in perticular Star Wonder and Earthshine are quite metallic. I've found Light Year the smoothest and less shimmery. It of course depends on the exact pattern and combination of shades within each MSFs. 

Mac Mineralize Skinfinishes cost £21.50 and you get 7 grams which is actually quite a bit less than the usual weight of MSFs, they are normally 9 or 10 g, not sure why the difference. Have you picked up anything from this collection? Have you got a favourite? Let me know in the comments!

Want It: Guerlain Fall 2012 Collection

I always get very excited when I hear about Guerlain's upcoming collections and once again I was thrilled to see all the gorgeous products coming out this autumn/fall. It seems Guerlain fall is all about lips and cheeks. There are some brand new products as well as new shades added to existing lines (not sure exactly what is limited edition and what isn't).

The gorgeous Natalia Vodianova is once again the face of Guerlain's campaign and this time she is sporting a gorgeous red gloss. There is a new gloss called Rouge G L'Extract de Guerlain. It comes in the signature silver Guerlain G case, similar to the Rouge G lipsticks and Noir G mascara (although that case is black) with the folding mirror. I do wonder ifthe texture will be more similar to the new YSL glosses and the now discontinued Chanel Rouge Allure Laque. There will be 7 shades of these coming out this fall.

Roses Ultimes de Chanel Haul and Swatches

Chanel has a new collection out with Glossimers and nail polishes, so I of course had to check it out and here's what I ended up with:

I got Le Crayon Levres lipliner in 49 Rose Corail, Le Vernis nail polish in 541 Tentation and 3 Levres Scillianted glossimers in 166 Amour, 168 Desir and 169 Jalouse. Now I'm not too sure if any of these are at all limited edition, I believe they're not, but I might be wrong. There are actually 6 glossimers and 4 nail polishes in the collection, but I was very restrained and only got these. The other shades were much lighter and less pigmented. I especially love Jalouse, it's such a gorgeous shade of fuchsia pink, and Tentation is what I imagined Rouge Carat nail polish (holiday 2011) to be like. Rouge Carat is red with fuchsia sparkles whereas Tentation is fuchsia itself. I haven't worn it yet, but it looks gorgeous in the bottle.

I also picked up Rose Corail lipliner which is not part of the collection, but the lady in front of me was getting some lipliners as well and a few were on the counter... and somehow I ended up with this one. It's a very pretty coral pink, darker than Mac Shore Leave prolongwear lip pencil, but has a similar texture. I wore it under Amour glossimer and it was lovely.

The lip pencil is £17.50 and you get 1 g which is slightly less than Mac prolongwear lip pencils (but it comes with a free pencil sharpener), the glossimers are £20 and you get 5.5 g (not sure how many ml that is), and the nail polish is £17.50 and you get 13 ml for your money. So yeah, not cheap. But then this is Chanel.

My Mac Hey Sailor Haul and Swatches Part 2

Okay, so this is not much of a haul, but I thought I'd rather do a separate post than add these to the end of my other Hey Sailor haul post. In this post I wanted to show you the two eyeshadows I bought from Hey Sailor.

I got Barefoot (left) and Feeling Fresh (right). Barefoot is described by Mac as tarnished gold which I agree with. It's a Veluxe Pearl finish, so it's lovely and smooth. It isn't overly pigmented, but the colour is buildable. Feeling Fresh is described as bright green, which is true, it is very bright. It's a lovely grass green colour, not too yellow, not too blue, and it has gorgeous micro shimmer to it. This is a very pigmented shade and has an excellent colour pay off and texture. This one is a Frost finish. Both eyeshadows are limited edition and come in a limited edition blue packaging with white stripes, same as the rest of the Hey Sailor collection. They cost £12.50 each which is 50p more than regular Mac eyeshadows (my God, when did they get so expensive by the way?). Barefoot is 1.3g, Feeling Fresh is 1.5g, the difference is due to the different finishes I believe.

My Mac Hey Sailor Haul and Swatches

Sorry this is a bit late, but I've only just got around to doing and I know this collection hasn't launched in America yet, so hopefully some of you will find it useful. So this is my haul from Mac's summer collection Hey Sailor (well, most of it, I'm still waiting for two eyeshadows to arrive from Debenhams, will do a separate post on them).

I got all 3 Pro Longwear Lip Pencils, one Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Handforged, Riviera Life and Send Me sailing lipglasses, Red Racer lipstick and Crew High-Light Powder. A relatively modest haul by my standards, but I do have a lot of make up already, so I'm trying to be a bit more picky.

I'm not going to do a full review partly because I haven't actually worn everything yet, but I do have swatches for you and also a picture of me wearing Red Racer lipstick. So far I'm happy with everything I've got, my favourites have to be the lipstick and the High-Light Powder, which actually shows up quite well on me, so I can use it as a subtle blush. Also, just to clarify, the stripes are not an overspray which is why I ended up buying it (plus because it's very pretty).

Estee Lauder Pure Color Five Color Gelee Powder Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

The other product I was really excited about from the Estee Lauder summer collection is the five colour gelee powder eyeshadow palette (if you missed it, you can read my review of the Illuminating Powder Gelee in Shimmering Sands here). This is basically the same as the Cyber Eyes Gelee Powder eyeshadows in a palette, but with the same pattern as the Shimmering Sands powder.

The colours in this palette are so beautifully summery, I love them. Although I also have to add that I'm a little bit unsure about the turquoise/teal colour in the middle. I thought it would be brighter, whereas it's actually quite a dull, bit greyish colour. To me it doesn't work very well with the rest of the palette. The other shades are all lovely, they work well together and swatch beautifully, soft and buttery. The teal shade swatches and applies well too, it just looks a bit faded, not as vibrant as the other colours.

I did a look with them (photos to come soon) and they applied and blended beautifully and lasted really well, there was no creasing even after 10 hours. I would love to see another few palettes with this formula in other colours, pinks, purples, blues, greens perhaps. The eyeshadows have a high metallic sheen but are not glittery and there is absolutely no fall out from them. They really are lovely.

The palette contains 4.4 g of eyeshadows (roughly the same size as 5 single Cyber Eyes eyeshadows) and costs £35 which is actually not too bad considering that the singles cost £19 each! This is a limited edition product and judging by how popular these eyeshadows have been, it will probably sell out fast. At the moment it's available from Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser and other department stores.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee Shimmering Sands Review and Swatches

Estee Lauder once again has a lovely summer collection and there were two things in particular that really interested me when I saw the promo pictures, the 5 colour Gelee Powder eyeshadow palette (review to come soon) and the Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee in Shimmering Sands.

This is the third Illuminating Powder Gelee hybrid that Estee Lauder has come out with in a short space of time. The formula is very similar to Mac's Extra Dimension Skinfinishes, very smooth and creamy with high frosty shine (although less frosty than the Mac skinfinishes). Colourwise this shade is different from all 3 Mac skinfinishes, it's darker and redder than Superb, but lighter and less orange than Glorify. I think this shade will look good on darker skintones or on me once I have a tan (which is not looking too likely judging by how the weather's been lately), but it is possibly to pull it off when you're pale if you use a very light hand (apply with a brush rather than the sponge applicator) and I think it works pretty well as a contour shade too.

The powder costs £28 and you get 4.5 g which actually seems very little (half of the Mac skinfinishes), but the compact is the same as the regular Estee Lauder blush compact so I think the powder gelee formula must be lighter than a regular powder. I don't think I will run out of this anytime soon ever as you only need a tiny bit, so the actual amount of product doesn't bother me too much. This is a limited edition product and these gelee powders sell out very quickly, so get yours while you can. Available at Debenhams, House of Fraser, Boots and other retailers with Estee Lauder counters and online from all of the above plus the Estee Lauder website.

Guerlain Summer 2012 Collection - Ecrin 4 Couleurs 13 Capri Review and Swatches

Summer is coming and so are the new summer collections. The one that interests me most is Guerlain's Terra Azzurra collection and I just can't wait to get my hands on most of the products from the collection. So when I saw the new eyeshadow quad, #13 Capri up on eBay, I had to snap it up. I was lucky as I paid less than half of the retail price, although mine - while brand new - didn't come with the velvet pouch or the outer box.

So this is it. A very summery looking quad with a shimmering white gold shade, a bright matte pink, a shimmery coral and a deep slightly shimmery brown. Bit of an odd combination with the coral and pink, but you can either use just 2 or 3 shades, or work the whole lot into one look (which I did with the pink on my eyelid, coral in the inner third, brown in the crease and the shimmery white gold to highlight - sadly I have no pictures).

The brown would work well as an eyeliner as well as crease colour. It is the most pigmented shade in the quad, it is absolutely gorgeous. The shimmery white gold is stunning, it has lots of small flecks of fine glitter, but it's actually still quite subtle with very minimal fallout. The pink is almost completely matte and is rather chalky, but it is buildable, however I'd advise patting it on rather than swiping. The coral is a big letdown, it looks gorgeous in the pan but sadly it has a very poor colour payoff, the shadow is not at all buttery, it's hard and not much colour comes off it when swiped. I haven't tried it wet yet, that might work, but I tend not to use my eyeshadows wet, so I need them to work well dry too.

The compact is shiny and bronze instead of Guerlain's usual black. As I said mine didn't come with the velvet pouch or the box, so I don't know what those look like.

All in all, this quad has positives and negatives. The price will be a negative to a lot of people, I think it's likely to be £37 as that's how much the other quads cost. You get 7.2 g of eyeshadows, so that's not bad, but at this quality I don't know if I could recommend it. I do love the brown and white gold shades very much, but the other two, especially the coral are not very nice. They're okay, but not that great. So to me this definitely doesn't live up to the normal Guerlain standards.

L'Occitane Pivoine Delicate Collection for Spring

Launching this April is L'Occitane's new collection Pivoine Delicate and it has some lovely products. The collection is made up of two parts: fragrance collection and make up collection.

The fragrance collection contains Pivoine Delicate Eau de Toilette (75 ml / £33), Fresh Mist (50 ml / £13), Hand Cream (75 ml / £13), Shimmering Powder (8 g / £22) and Eau de Toilette and Gloss Duo (2 x 5.5 ml / £14).

The make up collection contains 3 Lipshines (8 ml / £11.50 each) and 3 Lipsticks (3.5 g / £12.50).

I was sent a few products to try out including the Eau de Toilette, the handcream and a lipstick, so I will be reviewing them over the next few days. For now I leave you with a picture. I just love the packaging of these, don't you?

Want It: China Glaze Bohemian Luster Chrome Nail Polish Collection

Lately I have gone crazy buying so many nail polishes, I will need to paint my nails every day for 2 years to use them up, and one of my favourite brands is China Glaze. One of my favourite finishes is duochromes, so you can imaging how happy I was to see info about China Glaze's Bohemian Luster Chrome Nail Polish Collection. It contains 6 gorgeous duochrome colours, one of them looking suspiciously similar to Chanel Peridot that every brand is trying to copy nowadays, but the other 5 are really interesting. Can't wait to try them out.

Here are the names of the polishes in the collection. This is due out sometime in the summer, I believe July. Can't wait!
