NOTD: Models Own Blooming Pink with Barry M Pink Sapphire Glitter

I have a nice cheerful mani to share with you, this is Models Own Blooming Pink topped with Barry M Pink Sapphire Glitter polish.

I applied two coats of Models Own Blooming Pink which had a very nice, easy to apply formula. Then followed by two coats of Barry M Pink Sapphire Glitter which was a little hard to get to apply evenly. Two coats did the trick and the result was this shimmery, glittery pretty pink mani.

Both polishes are permanent, so easy to find and are both very cheap, Models Own polishes cost £5 each and Barry M glitter polishes cost £2.99 each, but there's usually some sort of an offer on these either at Boots or Superdrug.

NOTD: Models Own Tropical Sun

This is one of the second batch of Beetlejuice polishes Models Own released and I regret to say, I'm still not blown over by their duochrome formula. These polishes looked amazing in the promo pictures, but every one I've tried so far has been rather disappointing.

Taken without flash in shade

Tropical Sun is a coral pink polish with subtle orange duochrome and tiny silver sparkles. The duochrome was only more of a tint, it looked orange most of the times and only looked more pink in the shade. The formula was a bit disappointing as well, it was pretty sheer and it bubbled up on my nails quite noticeably. It lasted quite well on me though, only had some slight chips after 2 days which is the better end of average for me.

Models Own polishes cost £5 each and you get 14 ml for your money which isn't bad. Boots often has a 3 for 2 offer and the Models Own website has some offers to if you buy more than one polish.

NOTD: Models Own Dancing Queen Mirrorball Polish

Models Own have recently released 5 new nail polishes called Mirrorball polishes in a variety of shades and I have Dancing Queen to show you. It's a clear polish with lots of different colour and different shape glitter including gold, blue, green and turquoise. I used it on top of Urban Decay Mars, a mossy green polish and I really liked the result.

Taken without flash in direct sunlight

I used 2 coats of Mars and then 2 coats of Dancing Queen on top. Dancing Queen was a bit thick, but okay otherwise. It did chip fairly quickly and the surface didn't feel very smooth, even with Seche Vite on top, it had little edges sticking out here and there, but that often happens with glitter polish like this.

Urban Decay Mars came in a set (last year's holiday set), so it's not available separately. Models Own Mirrorball polishes are available from the Models Own website and costs £5 (although is sold out at the moment, but will be available again soon and also from Boots stores/website). You get 14 ml of Dancing Queen and 5 ml of Mars.

My Nail Polish Stash and Storage Video (and Lots of Pictures!)

I've spent a couple of days re-organising my nail polish storage and creating a spreadsheet, so I know exactly where every single one of them are, so I though I would show you the fruit of my hard work. Also I enjoy looking at other people's stashes, so hope you enjoy it too.

I have also taken pictures of the contents of each box and separate packs, so if you're interested, have a look! No individual pictures, but I did do a rather extensive series on my nail polish stash last November, so click here if you'd like to check it out.

This Month I...

Rather than just doing a post about products I've finished this month, I've decided to do more of a summary of the last month and all beauty related happenings. So here we go.

Last month I...
  • finished 3 products. It's been a slow month, what can I say? At least it's more than nothing, eh? One of the products finished was Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara which I really enjoyed using and would definitely consider repurchasing if I didn't already own 20+ mascaras. It also lasted for ages, I don't even remember when I first started using it, it didn't go bad or dry out, just simply ran out eventually.
  • have overspent by about £250 again. I think I should just up my budget, because it's clearly too low. Or maybe buy less make up and spend less money. (Crazy talk, I know.)
  • have bought another lorry load of nail polishes. I know I'm crazy, I have been buying nail polish all the time, but there are so many pretty colours! I have also discovered a couple of brands (namely Glitter Gal and A-England) I'd not heard about before and they both happened to be holographic nail polishes which is my weakness.
Here are some pictures of the pretty polishes I bought in April (some reviews will follow eventually, let me know in the comments which ones you're interested in the most). First up, A-England holo polishes:

Princess Tears, Lady Of The Lake, Ascalon, Tristram, Princess Sabra

My Recent Haul Pictures

I'm still playing catch up when it comes to writing blog posts, so I thought I'd do a quick one about my recent make up (and mostly nail polish!) purchases. I don't think I will get around to reviewing many of these anytime soon (I have one review coming), but if you are really interested in something, let me know in the comments. So without further ado, here are the pictures:

My Cherry Culture order

First up lots of lovely Milani stuff. I bought these from Cherry Culture when they recently had a 20% sale. Shipping was quite expensive, but I was very pleased that I didn't have to also pay customs duty and the horrendous £8 Royal Mail fee on top of it all, so the above came to a total of £60 which isn't too bad actually.

FOTD: Chartreuse, Gold and Brown

This look is a bit different from what I would normally wear, firstly I don't often wear greens and certainly not chartreuse, but I was playing with my Frontcover loose powder eyeshadows and decided to do this look. My inspiration partly was the Models Own Golden Green Beetlejuice nail polish, I actually wore this look at the same time.

It wasn't this bright and in-your-face in real life, maybe it's the flash, I don't know, but it does look a bit scary, especially the full face pictures. Oh well, nobody stopped me to wipe it off my face, so I guess it was alright. Feel free to let me know what you think (but please be kind)!

To create this look I used the following products:

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Frontcover Pigment Powder in Lime Lime inner part and middle of lid, and under lower lashline
Mac Vintage Gold pigment in outer part of lid and above crease, and under lower lashline
Frontcover Pigment Powder in Saddle Brown in crease
Frontcover Shimmer Powder in Desert Dust on browbone to highlight
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero on waterline
Clinique Lash Power Mascara in Black Onyx
Mac Brow Set in Show Off

Face:
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation in 030 Sand
Mac Truth & Light Magically Cool Liquid Powder
Mac On A Mission Beauty Powder Blush

Lips:
Avon Ultra Colour Rich Moisture Seduction lipstick in Mocha Plum

NOTD: Models Own Beetlejuice Golden Green

This is the second shades I have tried out from the Models Own Beetlejuice collection. (You can read my review on Aqua Violet here.) This is the only shade as well as Pinky Brown that's sold out already, I think a lot of people might have thought it was a dupe for Chanel Peridot that also sold out very quickly. I thought it was too, but it's not. Firstly it's hardly even duochrome, on me it's mainly light golden green, sometimes a bit darker from certain angles, but I don't really see the duochromeness you see in the bottle (and even that isn't that great).

With flash

Peridot is more gold with definite green and even some blue duo(multi)chrome. Anyway, I didn't buy Golden Green because I wanted a Peridot dupe, I bought it because it looked amazing in the promo pictures. It's nice, but not that special. This also chipped on me pretty quickly, similar to Aqua Violet, but I'm used to that. All in all, a nice polish, but don't expect it to be that amazing duochrome you've seen in the promo pictures.

What do you think of the Models Own Beetlejuice polishes? Did you buy any?

NOTD: Models Own Beetlejuice Aqua Violet + Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal

A little while ago I was browsing as usual and found the most beautiful nail polish I had ever seen, Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Turquoise Opal, a gorgeous duochrome (or rather multichrome, if that's a word) that transforms from pink to purple to blue to pretty much every colour of the rainbow. Having done a quick search on eBay I realised that it was a very coveted shade and was retailing for quite a lot of money. Bummer. About 5 minutes later I found out that Models Own was coming out with a new nail polish line, Beetlejuice, that also offered gorgeous duochrome nail polishes. So I excitedly waited for the 1st November to be able to get my hands on what looked promisingly similar to Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal.

And here it is, the lovely Aqua Violet. A turquoise shade that changes to blue and purple depending on how the light hits it. In direct sunlight or under bright indoor light it is mostly turquoise, but there is definitely some blue and purple in there. Perhaps not as strong duochrome as I hoped, but a nice shade nevertheless. The formula is pretty good, a little bit on the runny side, but easy to work with, it dries quite quickly. On me it chipped after 24 hours, but I always add that everything chips on me within 48 hours, so it's not necessarily that bad. Of course some are better than others and this little beauty was certainly on the worse side for chipping. It costs £5 for 14 ml which is very reasonable and is currently only available from Models Own website.

Of course I ended up buying the Sally Hansen nail polish on eBay and it turned out to be so gorgeous, it actually spoilt Aqua Violet a bit for me. It just couldn't live up to my high expectations. Before owning Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal I probably would've loved Aqua Violet, but it has been overshadowed I'm afraid. It still a pretty polish and definitely my favourite of the Beetlejuices, so I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

Have you tried the new Beetlejuice nail polishes? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
