WANT IT! Guerlain Holiday 2011 Collection - Belle de Nuit

Guerlain is one of my favourite beauty brands and I always look forward to their holiday collections because they usually are very very pretty. It's the same again this year, Belle de Nuit is just a simply gorgeous collection. Once again the promo picture features the ever beautiful Natalia Vodianova and the collection is all about sparkles. (Although her face does lok a bit odd in this picture, don't you think?)

To find out what products make up the collection, continue reading after the jump!

The star item of the collection is Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder for the Face and Body.  Every year Guerlain releases one of these shimmer powders in a beautiful perfume bottle. I have a little collection of 4 different releases and this will be a lovely addition to my stash. I use these powders to spray on my hair and body when I go out in the evening, I wouldn't use them on my face as they are VERY shimmery. Very fine shimmer it is though and I always get lots of compliments on how pretty it looks. You can see last year's edition here. I expect this will cost around £50 judging by last year's prices ($87 in the US).

To my surprise there isn't a Voyage Powder this year, which is very strange as Guerlain has released a new one every holiday for the last 10 years or so. As you (may) know I collect them, if you haven't seen my collection, check it out here although it doesn't show last year's edition which you can see here. Voyage Powders cost around £100, so I guess it's not a bad thing that I don't have to buy another one this year. I know, I know, I don't have to, but I collect them, so I would definitely want to pick it up. Instead of a Voyage Powder there is a new product which is a blush and highlighter in one called Parure de Nuit. It appears to be similar size to the gorgeous Serie Noir Blush G (from the spring collection) and should cost the same at about £42 ($67).

There is of course a new limited edition of Guerlain's famous Meteorites Pearls, this holiday they are called Meteorites Perles de Nuit. Housed in a beautiful blue/teal tin, with the usual Guerlain flower pattern on top. This is the newer style packaging that came out in summer 2010 with the lid being separate, rather than having to pull the whole cylinder top off (if that makes sense). Also it feels more like metal than the old cardboard boxes. This year's version contains pale pink, white, orange, gold and silver balls, all fo which have different functions in correcting and highlighting skintones. I'm guessing it will retail for around £35 ($56 in the US).

I was quite disappointed to see that these Meteorites Perles are not exactly the same as a promo leaflet I saw a few months ago on a blog suggested. That leaflet said there would be green/blue balls in it as well as pale pink, white, gold and champagne (instead of silver), but it seems the finalised product contains orange balls instead of green/blue ones. I don't know why they changed it, but I was really looking forward to the green/blue balls. This new mixture just doesn't seem too special to me, although it is pretty I have to admit.

There is also a new eyeshadow quad called  Les Ombres de Nuit. It is the same style as the new eyeshadow quads just released with the fall collection with grey, green, blue and black. The new eyeshadow quads reatil for £37 at the moment, so that's how much I'd expect this to cost too.

The last items is the collection are 2 new shades of Rouge Automatique lipsticks, 169 Flirt d'un Jour and 170 Nuit d'Amour. Flirt d'un Jour is "soft and luminous pink" and Nuit d'Amour is "black red that reveals an intense plum colour". The Rouge Automatique lipsticks retail for £24.50 each.

Well, that's the collection. Anything you like? I'm buying the whole lot. Don't even want to know how much it's going to cost me.

  1. Love the lipstick shades as they look here from the stick...good to read the review of the new arrivals to make sure whether they are suited to our skin type and also suit the skin tone for purchase.

  2. Just gorgeous - I shall probably get all but the spray and the blush. I agree it's a shame that the meteorites don't contain the green/blue, but I'm still looking forward to these :)
