Getting Out Of The Rut Days 3, 4 and 5

I know I've disappeared for a bit, but it doesn't mean I wasn't keeping up with the challenge. It just means I didn't have much time to post. The past 4 days though I have been slacking a bit, so no photos of that, but I did incorporate a few products in my make up that I'd not used for a while, mainly blushes and lipsglosses/lipsticks. Anyway, here are the photos of the days I did make an effort:

Products used (other than my staples): Mac Crushed Metallic Pigments in Moss Garden, Spruced and Silk Stocking, Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Covet, Laura Geller Baked Blush in Bora Bora and Mac Lipgelee in Lush & Bright.

Getting Out Of The Rut Day 2

Here's another look I've done with products that had been sitting unloved in my make up drawers. Products used (other than my staples which I will do a separate post about) were Mac Surf Baby! Cheek Powder in My Paradise, Barry M Dazzle Dust no. 26, Mac pigment in Spiritualize, Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil in Vacancy and Mac Kissable Lipcolour in Exxxhibitionist.

Here are the products I used:

I'm really enjoying this and will continue to post pictures. Hope you like them.

Getting Out Of The Rut Day 1

So today is the first day of me using some make up that's been sitting in my drawers unused. In this look I used (among my staples like foundation, powder, mascara and brow set gel which I have no need to mix up) Sephora Moonshadow Trio in Dusk Till Dawn, Urban Decay 24/7 eyepencil in Rockstar, Accessorize Merged Baked Blusher in Wowzer and Mac Dazzleglass Creme in If It's Pink.

Feel free to let me know what you think, but please go easy on me, I haven't done this in a long time.

So that's day one ticked. Onto day two, the adventure continues!

Where Did My Eyelashes Go, RapidLash?

So a couple of months ago I wrote a post on how great my eyelashes were looking after 3 months of using Rapidlash. Sadly, that was in the past. I noticed a few weeks ago while taking off my make up at night that my nice long eyelashes started to fall out. Some nights as many as 4-5 ended up in the sink to my horror. And this is how my eyelashes are looking now (well on the 18th February to be precise):

While they are still longer and thicker than they were when I initially started using RapidLash, they are nowehere near how they were after 3 months of usage. Here it is for comparison:

I know eyelashes fall out and re-grow all the time, but I was expecting to see so many fall out at once. I also found that more fell out from my right eye than left one, so my eyelashes are looking a bit silly at the moment. Not a massive difference, but I can definitely see it. So why did it happen? I have no idea. I'm also not sure if I should continue using RapidLash or not. At one point I was scared all my eyelashes will fall out, although luckily they didn't and I noticed I had lots of new stumpy ones instead of the long ones. But the thing is, I don't really want to end up with wonky eyelashes in another 3-4 months' time. Also having to fork out £41 on a tube that gave me longer eyelashes for a few months, just to be back to square 1 (okay, 2), is not really great. I thought once I've achieved a nice length and thickness, I can maintain it with 2-3 applications a week, but now I have to do it daily again to re-grow my new stumpy lashes. While I'm not keen on going back to my original lashes (they do look tiny in the comparison photos), I'm also not happy to have to go through losing and re-growing my lashes every 4-5 months. Sigh.

Has this happened to anyone else? Let me know in the comments!

The RapidLash Challenge 3 Months On - This Stuff Actually Works!

Okay, I take it back, this stuff does actually work. I can now see real difference in my lashes after 3 months of RapidLash use. Not only my eyelashes are significantly longer that they were, but also thicker, so they show up more, especially my lower lashes. Although I'm pretty sure I'd never want to leave the house without mascara because I still don't have a proper full, luscious lashline and I don't think I'll ever have, plus my lashes are quite light and don't frame my eyes properly. I think maybe if I had then tinted, I would be okay with going mascaraless, but otherwise I will still stick to wearing mascara every day. I am happy with the results though.

I do have one criticism, the name RapidLash is really quite misleading and has actually made me be disappointed early on in the process. If it takes 3 months to see proper results, then this product is not rapid. I'd call it Moderately-QuickLash, but I do realise it doesn't have the same ring to it. I do also need to add that for the past 4 weeks I've also been using L'Oreal Lash Renewal Serum in conjunction with RapidLash, but to be fair I don't think the improvement is do to the L'Oreal serum because I have used that in the past and it didn't do anything for me. But since I still have half a tube left I thought I'd try it with RapidLash.

I still have some left in the RapidLash tube, not sure how long it will last, and I'm also not sure if I will repurchase it. Do you actually have to keep using it to maintain the length of your lashes? I will buy it if I have to, but I might reduce usage to every other day since it costs £41 and that is quite a lot of money.

Okay, you wanna see the astonishing results (well, sort of)? Keep reading after the jump!

The RapidLash Challenge Day 56 - The Results

8 weeks ago I started using RapidLash in a bid to try and get my thin, short, sparse eyelashes look better, and here are the results so far. I was hoping to end up with lashes that would look okay without mascara, because at the moment I always wear mascara as my eyes have no definition without them. I wasn't expecting to have lashes that look like I'm wearing loads of mascara, just long and thick enough not to scare young children or be asked if I feel okay because I look ill if I don't wear any.

The result? I can certainly see that my lashes are longer, this is especially apparent when I'm wearing mascara. However, when not wearing mascara, my eyes still lack the definition that I was hoping for. Yes, my lashes are a bit longer, but they are still thin and sparse and not that visible naked. I still wouldn't leave the house without wearing mascara, and to be honest, I don't think I ever will.

So yes, there is some improvement, but in my opinion it is not £41 worth of improvement. My lower lashline is stilll barely there, despite using RapidLash on the lower lashes too. I will continue using the product because I would be mad to throw it out at that price, and will report back in another 4 weeks or so. But for now I would say it's not worth the money, at least not for me.

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge - Week 4 and Conclusion

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge has now come to an end. 30 days and 30 lipsticks later I'm very happy I decided to do this challenge. I managed to use lipsticks I'd not actually used at all, also rediscovered some old favourites and found that some I wasn't too keen on at first I actually quite like after all. I also ended up throwing out one very funny smelling one (it wasn't even that old, I don't know what happened there), and put 3 up for sale - by the way, check out my Blog Sale if you haven't yet done so! I think I will definitely do this again, but right now I need to give some love to my other lipsticks. So many lipstick, so little time!

This post includes the last 9 lipsticks and once again I managed to choose a good variety of brands and colours. The lipsticks I used this week are:

1. MyFace Gigabite lipstick in 155 Strawberry Fields
2. Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in 457 Wild Orchid
3. Mac lipstick in Costa Chic
4. Collection 2000 Volume Sensation lipstick in 4 Plum Perfection
5. No 7 Moisture Drench lipstick in 30 Plum Beautiful
6. No 7 Mirrorball lipstick
7. Urban Decay lipstick in Naked
8. Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in Voile de Rose
9. Mac lipstick in Playtime

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge - Week 3

Now that I'm into the second half of my 30 day lipstick challenge, I am having more of a difficulty picking out the lipsticks I want to wear. Even though there are approx. 60 lipsticks in the box with a variety of different shades and finishes, I feel that I find it hard choosing. Also I want to make sure I choose from different brands, so it's not too boring for you either. This week I actually used lipsticks from 6 brands and managed to choose a variety of shades too, so not too bad. We'll see how the last 9 days go, although this has been good fun, my Guerlain and Chanel lipsticks are calling my name. It's funny though as I suspect many of you out there don't even have 60 lipsticks, but obviously I get bored quickly and need to have a lot of them to keep me happy.

Anyway these are the lipsticks I wore this week:
1. Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in shade 350
2. No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in 50 Cameo
3. L'Occitane Pivoine Flora lipstick in 02 Rose Pique
4. Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in 440 Cherries In The Snow
5. Maybelline ColorSensational lipstick in 148 Summer Pink
6. Mac Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Full Speed
7. Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in 415 Pink In The Afternoon

Find out what I thought about these lipsticks and see swatches (including lip swatches) after the jump!

The RapidLash Challenge Day 29

It's been 4 weeks since I started using Rapidlash, a lash enhancing serum, and I have some pictures to show you. Unfortunately there has been almost no visible improvements to my lashes (I can see some longer lashes, but that's all), although it did say on the instructions that you're supposed to see improvements after about 8 weeks (and that leaves me with the question, why is Rapidlash called Rapidlash, since there is nothing rapid about it, but anyway). So far I am still sceptical, but haven't given up hope that one day I will have nice, long, lush eyelashes.

I'm not posting comparison pictures this time as I said there's no point, but if you want to see what my lashes looked like originally, check out this post. I will however do a proper comparison post in another 4 weeks time. For now, see how my lashes are looking after 4 weeks of using Rapidlash after the jump!

Here we are, second week of the great 30 day lipstick challenge. I'm having great fun choosing lipsticks from my Mixed Up Magic box. 2. Mac Wonder Woman lipstick in Marquise D'
3. The Body Shop Rose lipstick in shade 01

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge - Week 1

Once again thank you to everyone who voted for which box of lipsticks I should be using for the next 30 days (you can see the "winner" box here). It's now been over a week and I have 7 lipsticks to show you. I have to say, it was a very good idea of mine to start this challenge as I often reach for the same lipsticks despite owning over 300 of them, so being restricted to choose from "just" 58 lipsticks is actually quite liberating. I also consciously trying to choose lipsticks I don't normally go for, there are quite a few unused lipsticks sitting in each box, so it's a great opportunity to try them out as well as rediscover forgotten favourites. Ah, the curse of having too much make up.

So here they are, the first 7 lipsticks. As you can see I managed to choose from a variety of brands and if you scroll down, you will see that I also managed to use a variety of shades. So shall we see which lipsticks I used this week? Find out after the jump!

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge Starts Tomorrow

Thank you to all of you who took the time to vote in my poll. It was very close, but Mixed Up Magic won, so I will be choosing a different lipstick every day to wear from that box for the next 30 days. I will try to do a weekly post on which lipsticks I wore and hope to show you some swatches and looks featuring some of them. So once again here's a picture of the winning box.

I'm quite excited about this because it contains my most recent Mac lipsticks, other new-ish purchases that I haven't really worn much and some old favourites as well. So let the challenge commence...

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge - I Need Your Help! *VOTING HAS CLOSED*

So I think we have established that I have a lot of make up. I have a lot of all kind of make up, I'm not picky. I currently have 300+ lipsticks as well as over 500 lipglosses. Yep, I'm crazy. Anyway, I do rotate my make up, usually by brands, so that I get to use everything (as much as possible), but I tend to usually just do that with eyeshadows. The way my make up is stored, most of my face and lip products are very accessable, but the eyeshadows I usually have to pull out of different places. This results in the eyeshadows getting more equal use, but I often reach for just certain blushes and lipsticks, despite the number I own.

So I thought, why not pick a box of lipsticks and challenge myself to use a different one every day for a month? And this is where you come in. I would really appreciate it if you could help me choose which box to go for by voting in my little poll. Below you can see 5 boxes of lipsticks (most of my lipsticks are included), with numbers on the boxes, and below the picture a little poll. Please can you vote for the box I should be using lipsticks from for a month?! (I also included detailed pictures after the jump if you want to take a closer look.) Thank you!

I will do a few posts on how I'm getting on, maybe swatch everything I wore that week, or show you looks, etc. Luckily I have a good selection in every box, so I should be able to create nice looks with them. Oh and sorry about the crappy names, couldn't come up with anything better. Now onto the poll...

***VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED THANK YOU!***

Which box of lipsticks shall I wear for 30 days?

The RapidLash Challenge Day 1

Thanks (or no thanks, we'll see) to Claire at Eyelining Obsessions I've decided to spend silly money on a lash enhancing serum. You see I have tiny, thin, short, nothing little eyelashes. I wear mascara and eyeliner all the time, because my eyes don't have any definition. So since Claire mentioned that RapidLash has worked very well for her, I thought I'd give it a go myself. I'm not expecting miracles, but it would be nice if I could have a tiny bit longer and thicker eyelashes. I will always want to wear mascara, I can't see such a dramatic result happening that I wouldn't, but nice long thick lashes would be lovely.

I am starting an 8 week challenge (according to RapidLash that's when you can expect to see improvements), and I have taken photos of my bare eyelashes to compare with in a few weeks time to see if there are any changes. In the meantime, let me know in the comments if you have used RapidLash, or any other lash enhancing products and how they worked out (or not as it may be the case) for you!

See some naked pictures of my eyes after the jump. You have been warned though, proceed with caution, my eyes are not a pretty sight without make up!

Felines inspired look

Temptalia is currently running a readers challenge for creating felines inspired looks (inspired by the new Mac collection, Fabulous Felines) and I have submitted an entry, which I would like to show off here as well. This is a simple look, mostly recreating the eyes of cats, or trying to anyway, definitely not something elaborate with leopard spots or tiger stripes. I actually wore this look all day yesterday. :) This look was also a good way of testing out my new Mac Superslick Liquid Eyeliners (I got 3) and new Laura Mercier Sequin Eyeshadows (from the Mystique Collection). I really like both of them, so that's great! :) Here's the look I did: See more photos and find out which products I used to create this look.
