Hitting pan

I always find it quite funny reading about other bloggers' excitement when they hit pan on their beauty products. But strangely it is a great feeling to be near to finishing skincare or make up products (unless of course what you're about to finish is something now discontinued, hard to find, irreplacable for you), perhaps a way of showing those who disapprove of our obsession/addiction that yes, we do use the products we've spent all that money on. Or even to prove ourselves that it was money well spent after all. And of course there's the justification to go out and buy more beauty products!
I have a lot of skincare products and even more make up, so I don't tend to finish products all that often. However, I have recently "hit pan" on loads of skincare and make up items, so this gave me the idea for this post.
Read more and see photos of products I have "hit pan" on (not literally though as some are in tubes and pots, not pans).

Things I'm wanting right now

Just some random pictures... See more after the jump!

Bobbi Brown Beach and Pink Oyster Shimmer Bricks

There was one more thing I'd been planning to write a review about, and it is the infamous Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks. As you know I'm partial to highlighters and also collect these lovely compacts. Bobbi Brown has released two shimmer bricks with the latest Beach Club collection, although unfortunately one shade was only released in Asia (however, thanks to the very kind Stephanie on MUA, I could get my hands on one). The rest of the world got Beach which has bronzy, natural shades. Pink Oyster - the Asian exclusive - has lighter, pinky shades. While Beach could work as a bronzy blush, Pink Oyster is definitely a highlighter, even for the lightest skintones. It mostly reminds me of Pink, a permanent shade, but if anything it's even lighter. Beach is a cross between Bronze and Nude.

Christian Dior eyeshadow palettes in Ready-to-Glow and Crush Glow

I've been meaning to write about my new Dior eyeshadow palettes since I got my hand on them several weeks ago. These eyeshadows are part of Dior's summer collection and a beautiful addition to my collection of Dior quints which you can check out here. The two palettes released are Ready-to-Glow and Crush Glow. They are both iridescent, so that means there's a lot of shimmer in them. Some of the shades are a little less shimmery, but especially the lighter ones are definitely not for you if you don't like shimmery eyeshadows. Ready-to-Glow is the cooler of the two with grey, cool toned brown and icy pink shades, but it also has a lovely peachy colour. Crush Glow is definitely warm, it has a gold, a lovely warm pink and a warm brown shade, as well as a taupe and light pink. I love them both, but probably prefer Crush Glow since it is very summery.
Ready-to-Glow (left) and Crush Glow (right)
They cost £39 each, so definitely not cheap, but Dior is a very classy, high quality brand, the eyeshadows are smooth, buttery, easy to blend and long lasting. And you do get 5 eyeshadows for your money, and the shades in the quints usually work really well together, so great for travelling too.

Sneak peak: Mac In The Groove collection eyeshadow in Style Influencer

I don't know about you, but I've been majorly excited about the new summer collection by Mac called In The Groove. As I am really into Mac's mineralize products (you can see photos of my Mineralize Skinfinish collection from last summer here) I cannot wait to purchase pretty much everything from this new collection. It's due out on 1st July in the UK, so not long to wait now. Collection details and product pictures can be found here. I was lucky enough to find one of the new eyeshadows on eBay, and I have to say I am very pleased with it. The texture of it is really smooth and buttery, not gritty or chalky at all, which have been the complaint about past mineralize eyeshadows Mac have released. I like all mine, but i have to say these are even better. The shade I bought is Style Influencer which has 3 colours: Satin silver, Pearly deep blue, Satin deep mauve brown (according to Mac), although I'd say the lightest shade is more white than silver, but it does have a silvery sheen. See swatches after the jump (now I've figured out how to do this! yay!)...

Apologies for not being around...

Firstly, I'm really sorry I've not been around lately. I've had so much going on, you wouldn't believe it! It was my little boy's birthday last Friday and his party on Sunday, so I was constantly looking around for presents, wrapping paper, party bag presents, party food, etc. I was also involved in my daughters' school's summer fete which took place on Saturday. Add to this my husband being away for 4 days last week and having to buy a new computer because my old one had died (it was 7.5 years old, so fair enough I guess), and you can see why I didn't have time to update the blog.
But I really wanted to show you all the wonderful things I have bought lately, so here's a sneak peak and will try my best to add all the details today / tomorrow / later this week. Until then, enjoy these pictures...

Guerlain Meteorites Summer 2010 Edition

If you've been following my blog for a while then you will know that I am a huge fan of Guerlain, and within the brand, the Meteorites powders. These are basically different coloured and sized powder balls that when swirled together with a brush and applied to your face, leave a gorgeous veil of powder on your skin. They're not exactly highlighters, nor they are blotting powders, but what I would call finishing powders. They give a lovely glow to your skin and the different coloured powder balls all have different purpose in correcting skin tone and imperfections. I am not an expert, so if you want to know more about them, please check out the official Guerlain website. However, I do love them very much and have managed to collect almost all of them over the past 2 years (I'm still missing the old style one coloured ones, but they are very hard to find and hardly ever pop up on eBay and when they do, they go for more than I'm willing to fork out). If you'd like to check out my collection of Meteorites, you can find it here.
This year Guerlain have revamped their Meteorites and came out with 3 new shades. Although to me Teint Rose actually looks a lot like the old Mythic shade, but it is perhaps a little lighter and more iridescent. They'd also changed the packaging, from cardboard to plastic with metallic finish which is much more sturdy and opens and closes so much more easily. It has a small lid and you can just place it on rather than having to push it on. If you've ever used Meteorites you'll know what I mean. I didn't mind the old cardboard packaging that much, but I do prefer the new one.

Guerlain Ombre Eclat eyeshadows 409 Ombres Perlees

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for neglecting the blog recently. I have been very busy with my children, we're also in the process of planning our new kitchen and the internet connection has been playing up for the past 5-6 days. So all in all, a lot of things have come up. Still, I have managed to take pictures of my Guerlain eyeshadow collection for you to drool over (if you like that sort of thing). Also, I've just purchased the new eyeshadow quad from the summer collection, so I thought I'd quickly write up a review on that. I have also purchased the 3 new Meteorites powders, but haven't managed to take photos yet, and with half term this week and my 3 children all at home with me, it'll have to wait until next week. Anyway, the new eyeshadow quad is called Ombrees Perlees and as I said it's part of the new summer collection. The colours aren't exactly summery, they're more spring colours with soft pastel pinks and browns, but they're certainly lovely. The quality of Guerlain eyeshadows is always excellent, and while they're pretty expensive at £36, they are on par with Dior and Chanel, you do get 6 gramms of eyeshadows for your money.
