What's In My Holiday Make Up Bag?

You might not have noticed (thank God (Blogger) for scheduled posts), but I went on a short holiday last week, and I thought I'd show you what make up I took with me. Now bearing in mind I was only away for 5 days and on day 1 I'd already done my make up, I'm thinking I might have taken a bit too much with me. Well, see for yourselves...

It doesn't look too much in the bag, but that's just the basics, I also took 5 Sleek palettes and my Mac highlighting palette with me. So yeah, too much, especially bearing in mind we spent 3 of the 5 days at the swimming pool, so those days I pretty much only wore waterproof mascara and lip balm.

Do you also take loads of make up with you when you go away or are you a minimalist? Let me know in the comments!

For details of what I took with me, keep reading after the jump!

Finished! The November Edition

I managed to finish a lot of products this month, so I'm pretty pleased with that. Of course most of them are skincare products as usual, but I did finish two pieces of make up, so it's alright.

First up is the most expensive face cream I've ever owned, it's Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Exceptional Complete Care Cream. This is a 50 ml size and it currently retails for £255. No, I've not gone mad, or maybe I have! I didn't pay nowhere near as much as this was actually a tester that I bought on eBay and the lid actually looks pretty worn, although don't know why because the cream inside was untouched. I've had this for quite a while, especially as I tended not to use it in the summer as it doesn't have any SPF. Also you really only need a tiny bit, so it does last forever. It's really lovely, but I don't know if it's 25 times better than my Nivea face cream that I've also finished. So I won't be repurchasing this for now, although I do actually have about 15 samples of it as well for travelling, so I'm okay for now anyway.

FOTD: Chanel Mirifique Illusion D'Ombre

This is the look I did with Chanel Mirifique Illusion D'Ombre that I reviewed the other day. As I said in my review, I did find Mirifique to be a bit harsh when worn alone, so I softened the edges with a fluffy blending brush and the added Mac White pigment in the inner corner and above the crease to lighten it up a bit.

To create this look I used the following products:

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Chanel Mirifique Illusion D'Ombre all over lid
Mac White pigment in inner corner and above crease
Mac Your Ladyship pigment on browbone to highlight
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Zero on lower lashline
Guerlain Le 2 Waterproof Mascara in Black
Mac Brow Set in Show Off

Face:
Guerlain Lingerie de Peau foundation in 03 Beige Naturel
Mac Truth & Light Magically Cool Liquid Powder
Laura Geller Baked Cheek Dreams in Banana Split on the cheeks (to be reviewed later)

Lips:
The Body Shope Rose lipstick shade 01

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge - Week 2

Here we are, second week of the great 30 day lipstick challenge. I'm having great fun choosing lipsticks from my Mixed Up Magic box. This week's selection includes some lipsticks I hardly ever reach for, and some that are quite new and haven't really had time to use yet, as well as some favoruites.

This week I used the following lipsticks:
1. Myface Cosmetics Gigabite lipstick in 154 Sweet Dreams
2. Mac Wonder Woman lipstick in Marquise D'
3. The Body Shop Rose lipstick in shade 01
4. Marks & Spencer Moisture lipstick in Coral
5. Mac Wonder Woman lipstick in Heroine
6. Mac Sheen Supreme lipstick in Insanely It
7. Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in 435 Love That Pink

The Great 30 Day Lipstick Challenge Starts Tomorrow

Thank you to all of you who took the time to vote in my poll. It was very close, but Mixed Up Magic won, so I will be choosing a different lipstick every day to wear from that box for the next 30 days. I will try to do a weekly post on which lipsticks I wore and hope to show you some swatches and looks featuring some of them. So once again here's a picture of the winning box.

I'm quite excited about this because it contains my most recent Mac lipsticks, other new-ish purchases that I haven't really worn much and some old favourites as well. So let the challenge commence...

Finished! The February edition

Despite trying my hardest to finish lots of products, I only managed 4 this month, but there are a few nearly empty ones sitting on my shelves, so hopefully I can include them in next month's post.

Now I know I said I wasn't going to include shower gels in these posts, but since I featured the Body Shop Cherry Blossom EDT in last month's Finished! post, I thought I might as well include the matching shower gel and body butter this month.

They are both nice, but since I've gone off the scent now, I won't be repurchasing them. I still have half a bottle of the EDT but I will save that for later now, this month I'm using Givenchy Ange au Demon.

See more empties after the jump!

Finished! The January edition

You might recall that I started this series last month when I managed to finish several beauty products (which doesn't happen very often, I'm telling you!) and to my surprise I'm back with another post of yet more finished products. I don't want to include basics like shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in this as I always go through those, will just stick to skincare, make up and fragrances.

First up are my beauty basics:

Mac Brow Set in Show Off is the only thing I use on my brows as I don't like brow pencils (too harsh) or powders (too obvious). This is a brown shade that just gives a bit more definition to my brows and holds them in place. I came across this product when Blonde, Brunette, Redhead collection came out in 2009 and I have loved it ever since! I actually think this was my original one, so it lasted me over a year, although I did move it to my downstairs cloakroom a while ago as it was running low (that's where I keep my emergency make up items for day when I have no time to apply my make up in my bedroom), so I guess I hadn't been using it so regularly lately ( have a new one in my bedroom). It never dried up though, just ran out. I love this stuff and have already repurchased it and will continue to do so. £11.50 from maccosmetics.co.uk.

Bright springtime face of the day

It's been a while since I last posted on here (I've been busy with family stuff) and even longer since I did a look, so I thought I would show off what I'm wearing today as it is really pretty and springy. Unfortunately my camera is really rubbish on capturing bright colours, so what you see here is a bit of a toned down version of what it actually looks like, but this is the best I could do. :( Today I'm using make up from The Body Shop, these products are actually from their spring collection, but I'd never got around to trying them out properly, and also the weather is still definitely more springy than summery even though we're fast approching June. To create this look I used: Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion The Body Shop shimmer cubes no. 19 Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners in Covet and Ransom Guerlain Le 2 mascara in black Mac Show Off Brow Set Face: Guerlain Meteorites Perles primer Givenchy Photoperfection foundation Mac MSF Natural The Body Shop Kiss Of Colour blush in Vibrant Rose Lips: The Body Shop Love Gloss in Fuschia Flush (no. 16) See some photos (and let me know what you think)...

I have loads more posts coming up in the next few days, including my second Mac To The Beach haul and a very beautiful (albeit pricey) addition to my Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Powder collection. Stay tuned!

The Body Shop Nomadic Goddess Collection Haul

The new summer collection has landed in The Body Shop stores and I've already purchased a few things, and here they are. I bought all 3 baked eyeshadow duos and one of the baked bronzing powders.

Baked eyeshadows and powders are my weakness, I have a huge collection of Mac mineralize eyeshadows and skinfinishes, and when I see anything similar to them, I always get them. The Body Shop released similar eyeshadows and blushes last summer too, then they had 3 colours mixed in the pan (like Mac's Too Fabulous collection with the two colour blushes). This time you get one solid shade and a smaller "crescent" shaped section with a mixture of shades. The bronzing powder (I purchased Warm Glow) has marbelized effect, it's a lovely shade of light brown, beige and pink. It's not even a bronzing powder as such, although it adds some colour, it's more of a shimmery highlighter on me and I'm actually quite pale. The other shade (Golden Glow) was darker, but also more shimmery, so I didn't like that one. Warm Glow is actually a very good name, because that's pretty much what it gives you, a warm glow on your skin.

See photos of the eyeshadows, bronzing powder and swatches below. Are you planning on buying anything from this collection?
