Want It! Guerlain Terra Ora Collection for Summer 2013

Guerlain always has me with their new collections and of course it's no different this time around. Thanks to Tavia I have details of the upcoming summer collection called Terra Ora.

The face of the collection once again is the ever beautiful Natalia Vodianova. The theme of the collection is gold, golden bronze. The star item is the limited edition Terra Ora bronzer that comes in a wooden compact like last year's Terra Azzurra powder. I'm also interested in the golden version of Guerlain's Meteorites Perles primer and the new BB cream. There's a new foundation as well as 2 new Shine Automatique lipsticks, new nail polish shades and a new lipgloss formula, Gloss D'Enfer that British Beauty Blogger has swatched for us already. Not part of this collection, but there are also 6 new shades of Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzing Powders that might tempt me too.

2012 Favourites - Part 1: Lips

As it's now a new year, I thought I'd do a recap of my favourite make up products of 2012. I'll only included products that were either newly released in 2012 or new to me, no point in me repeating myself over and over again (I still love Vaseline and Pleasureflush MSF is still my favourite highlighter, nothing new there).

So I'll start with lip products. The brand that stood out for me in 2012 when I think of new lip products was definitely Revlon. While I still love Guerlain lipsticks very much and wear them often when going out, on days when I'm staying in or not needing a bolder lip colour, I often opt for Revlon's Lip Butters. I acquired 10 of them over the course of the year and they've become my most used lip products.

They are moisturising, very comfortable to wear and some of them are absolutely gorgeous and actually pretty pigmented. On days when I don't need to wear lipstick but want something more colourful then Vaseline, I reach for these, and of course some of them double up as lipstick due to their fantastic pigmentation. Raspberry Pie, Lollipop and Sweet Tart are my absolute favourite shades. I did a full review on these Lip Butters here, so if you need any more details, check it out!

Want It: Guerlain Spring 2013 Collection

I'm really excited about seeing the promo pictures and details of the Guerlain Spring 2013 collection, so I thought I'd quickly share them with you. Firstly, another gorgeous promo picture featuring the lovely Natalia Vodianova. Can't help but wonder how photoshopped those eyelashes are though...

So there is a new mascara coming out, it's a volume creating, curl sculpting mascara.

Cils d’Enfer – Maxi Lash (£22)

The secret of this brush is all in the three polymers. “The first one wraps the lashes in extremely adherent oils, coating and thickening the lashes. The second one, made with supple waxes, acts like a conditioner, softening the lashes so you can sculpt them into just the right shape and style. The last one forms a thin film, coating the lashes to trap the wax and set the amazing curve.”

This mascara also has an innovative brush which is described the following way:” full, round brush caresses each lash to thicken and lengthen at will. The volumising effect is accentuated by the new generation hollow fibres, capable of dispensing just the right amount of mascara with each stroke. Cleverly placed in a criss-cross pattern, they carefully separate the lashes and spread the rich formula without clumping.”

Guerlain Holiday 2012 Collection Haul Part 1 - Shine Automatique Lipstick #760 Lou-Ling

Finally it's here, and I have already or will definitely buy almost everything from Guerlain's Holiday 2012 Collection, so I will be doing a series of these posts in the coming week or so.

First up I'd like to show you one of the Shine Automatique lipsticks, #760 Lou-Ling (I didn't buy the gold one (#700 Altoum) because I already have a Chanel gold lipstick and there's really only so many gold lipsticks a girl needs). The colour is a gorgeous deep wine red with lots of gold shimmer. The lipstick comes in a gold coloured case that has a "lever" on the side which pushes the lipstick up through a flap on the top (which of course gets opened first). This allows you to open and apply your lipstick one handed.

Once applied on my skin, the colour is rather sheer, the swatch you'll see below took 5 swipes. Shine Automatiques are supposed to be sheer, so I was expecting this. What I wasn't expecting though is what happened when I applied it to my lips: after just one swipe the colour was bright and vibrant. So this is actually a sheer lipstick that isn't actually sheer. The gold shimmer is noticable, but not gritty, and the lipstick has a gorgeous shine.

Not overly long lasting, it lasts on me for about 3 hours if I don't eat or drink, 2 hours if I drink and it disappears if I eat. It leaves a nice stain behind and fades quite evenly. It feels nicely moisturising as well.

Shine Automatique lipsticks cost £24.50 and you get a decent 3.5 g for you money. I believe both Lou-Ling and Altoum are limited edition.

Want It: Guerlain Holiday 2012 Collection (Sneak Peek)

I'm always eager to find out information about upcoming collections, especially when it comes to one of my favourite brands, Guerlain. I've found these pictures and some information about the holiday 2012 collection, so I thought I'd share it with you. All credit goes to Loulou17.

I'm not 100% sure whether this is the entire collection, but it seems quite sizeable, so it probably is. I believe the collection will have an oriental theme.

Guerlain Shine Automatique Lipstick #240 Pamplelune Review and Swatches

I'm trying my best to clear my backlog, but there's still so much I want to blog about. For now I thought I'd show you the last of the Guerlain Shine Automatique Lipsticks I've purchased, this one is #240 Pamplelune, a gorgeous pinky coral colour.

It looks quite scary in the tube, but like the other lipsticks in this range, it is actually quite sheer when applied. The intensity of the swatch you see below was achieved by 5 swipes. I think it's really great for summer, when you don't want to bother with too much make up, it's quite sheer, but lasts surprisingly well and feels nicely moisturising on the lips.

Guerlain Shine Automatique Lipstick #262 Extrait de Rose Review and Swatches

Firstly apologies for the lack of posts over the past few days, I'm currently on holiday and haven't got much access to a computer. I was hoping to schedule some posts for this week before leaving, but life got in the way. Normal service should resume in about a week's time and I have a lot of lovely goodies to show you, so hope it'll be worth the wait.

For now I have another shade from the Guerlain Shine Automatique line to show you today, it's #262, a lovely sheer fuchsia pink with lots of shimmer. When I swatched the entire line of Shine Automatique lipsticks the other day, this one jumped out at me as one of the favourites.

I have another shade from the Guerlain Shine Automatique line to show you today, it's #263, a lovely sheer pinky red with lots of shimmer.When I swatched the entire line of Shine Automatique lipsticks the other day, this one jumped out at me as one of the favourites.

Guerlain Shine Automatique Lipstick #220 Pour Troubler Review and Swatches

Last month I reviewed Guerlain Shine Automatique #200 Sous Le Vent which is a lovely nude shade, and now it's time to check out one of the brighter shades in the line. There are a few very nice shades, but in the end I decided to go for one of the most pigmented of the 12 available, #220 Pour Troubler, a gorgeous slightly pinky red with gold shimmer.

This is a really pretty shade, pigmented enough to show up nicely and last for a couple of hours. I think I'd recommend it to someone who is a bit afraid of wearing a red lipstick, as this isn't as full on as some other red lipsticks I own. I also wore this over Mac Throw Me A Line! lipliner (from the Hey Sailor collection) and to my surprise it actually lasted for 4 hours without fading! The liner isn't a true match, it's a lot less pink than the lipstick, but it worked fine. I've included a picture at the end of me wearing Pour Troubler over Throw Me A Line, but this time the liner is only around the edges, so you can see the true colour of the lipstick too. (I have to admit, until recently I never thought about wearing a lipliner ALL OVER the lips, I thought they were just supposed to go around the outline of the lips, like eyeliners do on eyes, but what do I know, eh?)

This one felt a bit more gritty than Sous Le Vent, it does actually have a lot more glitter/shimmer. Not too bad, but definitely more noticable. Otherwise the formula is lovely, very lightweight, moisturisingand feels comfortable on the lips. You get 3.5 g for your money ie. £24.50 which is your regular lipstick weight. The tube is the same as the regular Rouge Automatiques, the lipstick pops up when you push the slider down. The packaging is lightweight and not too bulky, so you can carry it around happily (not like the Rouge G lipsticks that weigh a ton!)

There are a few other shades that interest me (particularly some of the pinks), so I expect to be back with more reviews soon.
