Update On My No-Buy 3 Months On

Here's another quick update on how I'm doing on my lipstick, lipgloss and nail polish no-buy. The answer is not too well. Firstly, I'd abandoned my plans for the nail polish no-buy because I just couldn't resist all the pretty colours I keep seeing on blogs and in shops. But yesterday I decided (having realised that I've managed to buy the same colour nail polish multiple times, sometimes even from the same brand!) that I'm really going to have to give it a proper go. So I've decided that I'm going to do a one month nail polish no-buy and actually properly stick to it this time. I now have over 700 nail polishes which is just crazy. I'm also going to do a giveaway very soon and include some of the multiple colours I've got so you can benefit from my silliness.

As far as my lipstick and lipgloss no-buy goes, I didn't do too bad. I got tempted into buying lip products a couple of times, once for a free nail polish and once because I wanted to try a different product (Lip Tars). Oh and I got a free lipstick with my B2Mac empties, but that doesn't count surely? Other than that I've been pretty sensible, so yay for me!

I know this isn't the most exciting post you'll ever read on this blog, but I thought some of you might be interested in seeing how I'm getting on. Let me know if you are on any kind of a no-buy and how you're getting on!

  1. Congrats on your 3-months celebration! :) I'm very interested in your experiences because I started a make-up and general cosmetics no-buy on Jan 1 (I just have tooooooooo many things) and a nail polish low buy. Instead of hitting the stores I was browsing ebay in the last few days and managed to win 3 polishes and bid on 6 more. With a limit of 10 polishes per month I'm really close to breaking it already :/

    1. Oh no, eBay is my big downfall, even if I don't go to the shops, I'm always buying something online. Good luck with your no-buy/low-buy. I think 10 nail polish a month is a good idea, I might try that after January. Also writing a wishlist and sticking to it. Let me know how it goes. x

  3. Congratulations on your willpower. I just started doing my nails myself so I don't have a huge collection. I've been applying the gel system so i'm limited to gel colors for now. I can't find any tutorials using regular polishes with gel, do you combine the two, if not, how do you keep your polish on, also, do you have photos of your collection?

    1. I don't use gel polishes, just a regular top coat in top (was using Seche Vite, but have recently switched to OPI RapiDry top coat). I have some photos and a video of my nail polish collection. Here's the link: My Nail Polish Stash and Storage Video (and Lots of Pictures!)
