Quick and Easy Natural Look Using Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette

I decided to do a quick and easy natural look with my new Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Collection and this is what I ended up with. The shadows were all really lovely to use, I only one complaint: Midnight Rodeo has awful glitter fallout, so I ended up with glitter all down my face (there was none on my eyelids weirdly). It's a pretty shade though, but I wish Urban Decay stopped making these glitterbomb shadows (Midnight Cowboy and MCRA, I'm looking at you too!). I loved Vanilla as a highlighter and Flow as a lid colour, they are both very pretty shades.

To create this look I used the following:

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Review And Swatches

Aah, isn't it beautiful? I'm very happy to be the proud owner of Urban Decay's latest eyeshadow palette, the 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection. It's a limited edition and seems to be always sold out in the US, but luckily it is readily available in the UK from Debenhams and House of Fraser for £39.

So where do I start? You get 15 eyeshadows that are all new and exclusive to the set. I'm sure many of them dupeable though, either with other Urban Decay eyeshadows, or different brands. However, the palette has a very good mix of neutrals and brights and at £39 it's a steal. You get 15 full size eyeshadows for under £3 each! Urban Decay single eyeshadows retail at £13 each. Enough said. Quality wise the eyeshadows are excellent. There are a couple of exceptions, namely Midnight Rodeo which is a glitterbomb (pretty much the same as Midnight Cowboy), I used it today and ended up with glitter all over my face, and Tainted which is just a bit unremarkable. Also Blackout is a matte shade and therefore not as butttery as the others, but it's stil very pigmented and not at all chalky. My favourites are Flow, Omen, Deep End and Deeper, the latter has these amazing gold/red/bronzy flecks!

The palette is a nice size, much smaller than the latest Book of Shadows, it has a mirror inside the lid, but comes with nothing extra (meaning eyeliner, primer potion, brush, etc.). Except for the purple velvet tray that I could've done without to be honest, especially if it had saved me a few quid. It's nice, just not necessary, plus it's a pain to try to get the palette in and out of it. Without it, the set is much less bulky too. The lid of the palette does come off very easily, so it's not the best for travelling, but I keep mine in it's plastic sleeve/box anyway, so it's safe enough.

All in all, another good palette from Urban Decay. It's a great bargain and the quality of the shadows is excellent. Well worth checking out if you're a fan of Urban Decay and/or in need of a palette with a good mix of colours.

Chanel Ombres Tissees Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges

On a recent trip to London I popped into Selfridges in a hope to pick up some of the very limited Chanel Byzance collection (I got the eyeshadow quad, the red blush and Byzantine lipstick by the way) I found this little beauty that I of course had to have. An absolutely gorgeous shimmery powder with overspray that looks like lots of Swarovski crystals, intended as eyeshadows but of course can be used as face highlighter too.

Came out as part of the also very limited edition Les Aquarelles collection that also includes two blushes, a Rouge Coco Shine lipstick, a single eyeshadow and a waterproof eyeliner (details and pictures over at Musings of a Muse). I didn't actually see any of the other items from the collection, although I don't think I would've bought anything else anyway, but I just had to have this gorgeous shimmering work of art. My pictures don't do it any justice, because it is 100 times more gorgeous in real life, but you get the idea anyway. Now sadly for you, I will not swatch this just yet (it is too beautiful to mess up), but if you head over to Cafe Make Up, you can see loads more of beautiful pictures and also swatches (Amy is clearly braver than me when it comes to swatching gorgeous products like this, lol).

I can't see this on the Selfridges website, so I'm guessing this is another store exclusive. It costs £44 and you get 13 gramms of product. Of course it's way too expensive, but then that's Chanel for you!

Swatching My Stash: My Boots 17 Eyeshadow Trios

As promised, here are my Boots 17 eyeshadow trio swatches. I own 5 of them, so might not be available for sale anymore as they may be a tad old. Before I got into high end make up (about 3 years ago), I used to buy quite a lot of high street make up and 17 was definitely one of them. I have since got rid of quite a lot of my old make up, but I couldn't toss these lovelies as they are really good quality eyeshadows.

I own Costa Rica, Galactic, Neptune, Purple Heart, Pretty In Pink. Costa Rica is a very summery trio with teal, blue and bronze, I believe it was a limited edition trio last year (or the year before). Galactic and Neptune Starry Eyes trios are new, they are currently available in Boots for £4.99 each, but there's often a 3 for 2 offer on or something similar. I believe there's 4 colours available. Bizarrely the older regular trios cost £5.49 (50p more), I have Pretty In Pink and Purple Heart of those, although my Purple Heart has a slightly different (older) design. I don't know if the eyeshadows are the same quality, probably are, but worth checking them out for yourselves. These trios appear to be available in 12 shades on the Boots website, I don't think I've ever seen that many in stores though.

Quality wise I love the new Starry Eyes trios the best as they really are excellent, buttery, soft, pigmented eyeshadows. I like all the others too, but some of them are less pigmented or a bit harder (might be their age though). Anyway, here are the swatches for you, see for yourselves! Swatching My Stash: My Boots 17 Single Eyeshadows

I was trying to decide what make up products to take with me on holiday and since I don't like taking my expensive, limited edition, high end stuff, I decided to rummage through my high street (drugstore) stash. This made me remember how much I love Boots' 17 eyeshadows, so I quickly got them all out and swatched them for you. I absolutely love 17 eyeshadows as their texture is consistently great, smooth and buttery, but they really don't cost much at all. (£3.89 each in Boots right now, but there's always a 3 for 2 offer around worth waiting for.)

I own 9 of the eyeshadows, although some of them aren't of the current design, so might not be available anymore, but I'll still show them to you. Most of the eyeshadows in the range are shimmery with high sheen, there are some glittery and some matte ones, although for me the best ones are the shimmery ones, their textures are the best.

Finished! The July edition

Here are the products I finished in the month of July. Not to shabby, although sadly only 3 make up items.Still, my collection of cleansers/scrubs need using up as well. Let's have a look at what I managed to finish last month, shall we?

First up is Maybelline Dream Satin liquid foundation in 020 Cameo. I have reviewed it already, you can read my review here. I don't love it, it doesn't really work for me, it's greasy and leaves my face quite shiny too, so won't be repurchasing this. I still have another half a bottle though, so you can expect that to appear in another Finished! post soon. Available from Boots, Superdrug, etc. £8.19 at Boots with a 3 for 2 offer currently on.
