Mac Year Of The Snake Eyeshadows - Aztec Brick and Once Upon A Time

At first I wasn't going to get anything from Mac's new Year Of The Snake collection, despite the products having snake prints on them, I don't really know why. In the end I decided to pick up the two eyeshadows I hadn't owned yet, Aztec Brick and Once Upon A Time. I have to admit, I mostly got them for the outer packaging, it is so pretty. But I definitely wanted to get something I didn't have yet. As pretty as Shell Pearl beauty powder is, I decided I didn't need another one. I also already owned the other two eyeshadows, and as I'm on a lipstick no-buy I decided not to go for any of the lipsticks.

Anyway, I got Aztec Brick and Once Upon A Time eyeshadows. These are larger size eyeshadows, they contain 3 g product and the pans are the size of the mineralize eyeshadow pans and the prolongwear ones. The eyeshadows have snake imprints on them, what looks like the middle part of a snake, no heads or anything. They're not that amazing to look at to be honest, but Aztec Brick in particular is a lovely shade. Both are Veluxe Pearl finish and have a nice texture. Once Upon A Time is almost the same colour as my skin, so it doesn't show up well, but it is pigmented and very smooth. Aztec Brick is a much louder colour and it also has a lovely texture. They both stayed on my lids for 8+ hours and didn't crease.

The eyeshadows come in the regular black Mac compacts and black cardboard box, but they also have a limited edition sleeve on top of the outer box with gorgeous colourful metallic snake prints.

Sadly as I type most of this collection is already sold out on the Mac UK website and it's a Mac online only collection, so if you haven't bought anything from it yet, then better get a move on because there isn't much left. Sorry. The eyeshadows cost £16.50 by the way.

Chanel Knightsbridge Collection Rouge Allure Lipsticks Swatches

Chanel released a Harrods exclusive 5 piece collection back in September and at the time I showed you the gorgeous blush, Brompton Road that came with the collection, but never got around to reviewing the lipsticks. I believe this collection is not available anymore in the UK, but it is now available in the US from Chanel's website, so I thought I'd post these pictures anyway.

Kensington, Hyde Park, Belgravia

There are 3 limited edition Rouge Allure lipsticks in this collection as well. Kensington is fuchsia, Hyde Park is a coral based pink and Belgravia is rosy pink with gold and silver shimmer. I like Rouge Allure lipsticks out of Chanel's lipstick formulas the most, they feel very nice on the lips and last for a long time.

I can't remember how much these lipsticks cost exactly, but Rouge Allure lipsticks generally retail at £24, and they cost $32 in the US. You get 3.5g for your money.

Without further ado, let's see more pictures and swatches shall we?

Chanel Ombres Tissees Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges

On a recent trip to London I popped into Selfridges in a hope to pick up some of the very limited Chanel Byzance collection (I got the eyeshadow quad, the red blush and Byzantine lipstick by the way) I found this little beauty that I of course had to have. An absolutely gorgeous shimmery powder with overspray that looks like lots of Swarovski crystals, intended as eyeshadows but of course can be used as face highlighter too.

Came out as part of the also very limited edition Les Aquarelles collection that also includes two blushes, a Rouge Coco Shine lipstick, a single eyeshadow and a waterproof eyeliner (details and pictures over at Musings of a Muse). I didn't actually see any of the other items from the collection, although I don't think I would've bought anything else anyway, but I just had to have this gorgeous shimmering work of art. My pictures don't do it any justice, because it is 100 times more gorgeous in real life, but you get the idea anyway. Now sadly for you, I will not swatch this just yet (it is too beautiful to mess up), but if you head over to Cafe Make Up, you can see loads more of beautiful pictures and also swatches (Amy is clearly braver than me when it comes to swatching gorgeous products like this, lol).

I can't see this on the Selfridges website, so I'm guessing this is another store exclusive. It costs £44 and you get 13 gramms of product. Of course it's way too expensive, but then that's Chanel for you!
