Nars Foreplay Blush Palette Review and Swatches

One of Nars's new offerings is this gorgeous blush palette featuring their (in)famous Orgasm blush (peachy pink with golden shimmer), 2 matte blushes (pink and peach) and a yellow gold highlighter. I already owned Orgasm blush, but really liked the look of this and wanted to try it.

You get a good size Orgasm, and 3 small blushes/highlighters. I'm not too sure if the Orgasm is full size, it doesn't day on the packaging, but the regular blush is 4.8 g and you get 10 g of blush altogether in this palette (Orgasm being the biggest), so it seems about right. The other blushes and the highlighters are rather small and it's not easy to get your brush in to pick up the colours, but at least they're not too close to each other. You just have to be a bit careful.

The blushes are nicely pigmented and are soft. I like them both very much. They are both matte and it's nice too have some Nars blushes without glitter, although Orgasm isn't too bad at all, it's just a bit shimmery/frosty. I think it would be nice to see these matte shades in single form as well. The only product I don't like in this palette is the yellow gold highlighter. To me it's just too yellow. I much prefer Nars Albatross as a highlighter instead. However, I guess it could make a nice eyeshadow.

All in all, it's a nice little palette. What I especially like about it is that between the 3 blushes you are pretty much covered and if you only took this with you on holiday (for your blusher needs, obviously), that would be just fine. It's quite small and easily portable and you get a mirror in the lid.

You get 10 g for £39.50 so that makes it cheaper than buying 10 g of other Nars blushes (they cost £21 for 4.8 g). It's still not cheap, but if you're looking for a portable blush palette with a good variety of shades, this might be the answer for you. Plus it is just so pretty.

In the UK this is exclusive to Nars (online) and Space NK. I actually bought mine from Sephora France.

Belated Halloween look post

I did this look for Halloween, although I didn't actually dress up as anything or go anywhere, but I thought I'd do a fun dark look and at the same time finally use my Urban Decay Black palette. This is also my entry for Temptalia's Halloween make up challenge.

For this look I used the following products:

Face:

Guerlain Meteorites Perles primer
Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation
Guerlain C’Est Moi pressed powder
Mac Love Rock mineralize blush duo
Mac Pleasureflush MSF

Eyes:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Urban Decay Jet eyeshadow (Black Palette) all over lid and crease
Urban Decay 54 Stardust eyeshadow inner corner and above crease
Urban Decay Grifter eyeshadow above crease
Urban Decay Bobby Dazzle Stardust eyeshadow below browbone
Mac Pink Opal Pigment inner third of eyelid and below browbone
Mac Designer Purple Pearlglide Intense eyeliner on lower lashline
Guerlain Le 2 Mascara in Butterfly Sparkle (both ends, glittery purple on tips of lashes)
Mac Brow Set in Show Off

Lips:

Mac Extra Amps dazzleglass
(Later added Collection 2000 Volume Sensation lipstick in Plum Perfection for darker lips to greet the trick or treaters, but I thought lighter lips were more appropriate for the supermarket in the morning.)

My HUGE Urban Decay haul and Vegan palette review

Urban Decay HAD to release 4 palettes at the same time, and I HAD to buy all of them didn't I? :) Even though I wasn't even planning on buying the Black Palette and was undecided about the Naked Palette, I ended up buying them too. The Black Palette because it looked really great in person and there was a 3 for 2 offer in Boots when I went to check it out (I got a free blush - which reminds me I should have included the two blushes in this review too, but forgot, never mind, next time). The Naked Palette because - I admit - gave into the craze and there was a 10% off offer, so I snatched it up. It's pretty, but I'm not a neutral kinda girl and I actually have about 7-8 of the shades already, but there are a few shades that I do really love (Virgin, Sin, Toasted, Hustle, Gunmetal), so I figured I might as well get it. As you know I'd already got the UD Hearts NYC Book of Shadows a little while ago (reviewed it here) and I really wanted to Vegan Palette as it's super pretty - even if I already have most of the eyeshadows in it, so I am now one happy bunny. :) And one thing's for sure: I will NEVER run out of Zero eyeliner! :) I also purchased the new 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Eldorado which is a new full size shade (it was featured in one of the sets last year, but it was a teeny tiny size and I really love it, so wanted to full size one as well) and got a free Big Fatty Mascara sample with my purchase. (As I mentioned earlier I also got two of the Afterglow blushes: Quickie and Score when I bought the Black Palette, I'll try to review them soon.) So here they all are: See LOTS more pictures and swatches of the Vegan Palette after the jump!
