Guerlain Meteorites Summer 2010 Edition

If you've been following my blog for a while then you will know that I am a huge fan of Guerlain, and within the brand, the Meteorites powders. These are basically different coloured and sized powder balls that when swirled together with a brush and applied to your face, leave a gorgeous veil of powder on your skin. They're not exactly highlighters, nor they are blotting powders, but what I would call finishing powders. They give a lovely glow to your skin and the different coloured powder balls all have different purpose in correcting skin tone and imperfections. I am not an expert, so if you want to know more about them, please check out the official Guerlain website. However, I do love them very much and have managed to collect almost all of them over the past 2 years (I'm still missing the old style one coloured ones, but they are very hard to find and hardly ever pop up on eBay and when they do, they go for more than I'm willing to fork out). If you'd like to check out my collection of Meteorites, you can find it here.
This year Guerlain have revamped their Meteorites and came out with 3 new shades. Although to me Teint Rose actually looks a lot like the old Mythic shade, but it is perhaps a little lighter and more iridescent. They'd also changed the packaging, from cardboard to plastic with metallic finish which is much more sturdy and opens and closes so much more easily. It has a small lid and you can just place it on rather than having to push it on. If you've ever used Meteorites you'll know what I mean. I didn't mind the old cardboard packaging that much, but I do prefer the new one.

The powders still have that wonderful signature violet scent that made me fall in love with Guerlain, and although I think there's a little less product (30 g instead of 33 g), they still last for ages. They are quite expensive at £34, but you do get all that product, so it's not too bad. And after all, it is Guerlain. The shades are Teint Rose which is most like the old Mythic shade, Teint Beige and Teint Dore which are two new shades. Although Teint Dore looks quite dark in the box, it is still very light and doesn't add much colour to your face, it is certainly not a bronzer even for very light skin. I leave you with some photos to drool over and will be back soon with more gorgeous pictures of my new Dior eyeshadow quints and Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks.

  1. Hi! I came upon your blog a few days ago while I was deciding between Teint Doré and Teint Beige and needed comparison photos. I've since bought Teint Doré but feel like I made the wrong choice (but it hasn't arrived yet). As you own both, which do you think is a better choice for an all-over powder? I bought Teint Doré based on their description - for people with a yellow cast on their skin when they're tired, but now I'm sort of regretting not getting Teint Beige cuz it has all those nice apricot and pink and champagne colours in it that I think would be more radiant looking. If it helps, I have golden undertones and my MAC foundation shade is NC30. Do you think I should return the Teint Doré for Teint Beige?

  2. Hi, I think you should wait for Teint Dore to arrive and see it for yourself. ;)

I personally prefer Teint Beige myself, but I am a lot lighter than you, having said that though, these powders are pretty much colourless anyway, Teint Dore isn't dark on your skin, just has a slightly bronzy sheen.

  3. Hmm, now that you say it's a bronzy sheen, I think I might go to a Guerlain boutique and look at them myself (considering that i live in Paris, I don't have an excuse not to go =P). I have tons of stuff that would give me a bronzy look, I want *the* glow, the famous glow from that everybody's talking about that even MSFs can't give me! Maybe Teint Rose or Teint Beige will give that more than Teint Doré. By the way, I recognise your username from MUA! I wanted to swap for a few of your products but never contacted you because I didn't have any of your wish list items.

  4. From Guerlain website, Teint Dore looked so beautiful. But looking at your picture here, I'd better stick with Teint Rose (same old Mythic). The new container is also much better.

Anitacska, which brush do you use with the Meteorites? And how do you compare these with the Voyage Compact?

  5. Hi Sutira,
I use Guerlain's Meteorites brush (like this one: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_123382838499_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Beauty~Make+up )

Obviously the Voyage Powders are in pressed form and these are loose powders, they also apply more sheer I think, but Voyage Powders aren't exactly full coverage. ;) With Voyage Powders you basically pay for the compact since the powder itself "only" costs about £30 (you can buy refills). Also they are obviously more travel friendly.

  6. I've been thinking about trying them out for the last TWO years! I was just never able to justify the price for the subtle effect you'd get...I feel like I'm going to get it soon though.
